Part of Sony Corporation- A conglomerate that has interest in a very
large amount of media and technologies. These include TV’s, sound
systems, video games, music, movies and many more. Founded in
Tokyo, Japan (7 May 1946).
Sony Music Entertainment (SME) is the interest Sony has in the
music industry, and is one of the ‘big three’ record labels that
most of the interest in the music industry. SME own a
considerably large amount of sub labels (around 700). The
flagship three being Columbia Records, Epic Records, RCA
Records.

6. Tenacious D is an American comedy rock duo that was formed in Los Angeles, California in 1994.
Composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Jack Black and lead guitarist and vocalist Kyle Gass, the
band has released three albums – Tenacious D (2001), The Pick of Destiny (2006) and Rize of the
Fenix (2012). Tenacious D's studio releases, and (as of 2006) its live performances, feature a full
band lineup, including such musicians as guitarist John Konesky and bassist John Spiker.
Drummer Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana) played on every studio release. Currently signed to
Columbia Records, examples of synergy include their music being used in a film featuring the
artists called The Pic of Destiny. Their self titled album grossed x2 Platinum in the UK.

• Tenacious D have a Facebook, Twitter,
YouTube and a MySpace account, which they
use to advertise and market concerts.
• They sell merchandise on their website.
• Their website also advertises all their music
and provides samples of their music.
• They have also performed at BlizzCon 2010 to
advertise their group.

Fighters, who are signed to RCA Records ( a
sub label of SME).
• Associated acts include The Kyle Gass Band,
Trainwreck, Foo Fighters, Bad Religion, Ronnie
James Dio, Meat Loaf, and Sum 41. Most of
these bands are signed to a sub label of SME.
