This document discusses a study analyzing tweets with the hashtag #exoskeleton during the opening ceremony of the 2014 World Cup. The study found that tweets portrayed imaginaries and representations of disability both perpetuating long-standing social views and raising new discussions. Some tweets mocked the use of an exoskeleton by a paralyzed man to kick off the event, while others connected disability to ideas of efficiency and technological progress. The analysis revealed how representations of disability circulate and are reinterpreted on social media during global events.
