This document discusses techniques for improving the routing of traces in planar transformers to reduce ohmic losses. Specifically, it shows that optimizing the routing of the primary and secondary traces to reduce current density through better distribution can lower primary losses by 18% and secondary losses by 22% according to simulations using a DC conduction solver and thermal analysis tools.
