Partnerships are reporting entities that provide information to tax authorities, but do not pay taxes themselves. Any profits from a partnership flow through to the individual partners who are then each responsible for paying taxes on their share of profits according to their own tax rates, rather than the partnership paying entity-level taxes. This flow through of profits and taxes from the partnership to individual partners is referred to as "flow through" taxation.
