Slovenia is a central European country located in the Alps and Mediterranean regions. It has a population of 2 million people and its capital and largest city is Ljubljana. Slovenia has diverse landscapes including forests, mountains, plains, and a short coastline on the Adriatic Sea. Some of Slovenia's most notable landmarks include Lake Bled, the Julian Alps, Postojna Cave, and Ljubljana's Triple Bridge. The country has a long history and achieved independence in 1991 after the breakup of Yugoslavia.
The greenhouse from scratch to the final result

Solar panels and the greenhouse
The students built three solar panels to heat a greenhouse. They experimented with different materials and determined that black metal pipes insulated with plastic bottles inside wooden boxes with styrofoam and aluminum foil would work best. The panels were placed at a 35 degree angle behind the greenhouse. Pipes connected the solar panels to the greenhouse to transfer the heat. Once constructed, the solar panels successfully warmed the greenhouse and allowed crops to grow inside during winter.

- 1. The solar panels and the greenhouse
- 2. One of the goals of the project was to determine what would be the perfect solar panel for our climate that would collect enough heat to warm the greenhouse.
- 3. The results of the experiment: ( for the perfect solar panel) The materials to build t9he solar panels: - Black „alcaten“ pipes, - Plastic bottles to insulate the pipes, - Wooden boxes, surronded by the styrofoam of 8cm thick and an aluminium foil that will be placed on the top of the styrofoam, - The glass lid will cover the boxes, - The solar panels will be placed at the angle of 35 degrees ( due to the position of the sun
- 4. After performing several experiments the 9th graders started building the solar panels. It was decided that we needed three.
- 5. THE MATERIAL NEEDED: -lesena škatla 140 cm/70 cm, -Styrofoam ( thickness of 8cm), -alcaten The pipes and the fitings, -aluminum foil in the tape, - Schwepps bottles 1,5 l, -glass.
- 6. Time for action … Getting the pipes ready and fitting them with bottles…
- 7. The bottles were placed over pipes to increase the insulation.
- 8. The school‘s janitor, Vinko, made the wooden boxes Working … All the boxes were painted with the protective paint.
- 9. To increase the insulation, the styrofoam was put inside the boxes and it was covered with aluminiun foil.
- 10. Each of the three solar panels was covered with glass to protect the pipes from the weather conditions and to increase the insulation. The first solar panel
- 11. The panels were placed near the greenhouse. The best angle of the solar panels was to placed them at 35 degerees angle. The panels were placed on the hill behind the greenhouse.
- 12. The pipes, connecting the panels and the greenhouse was placed underground.
- 13. The pipes that heat the greenhouse are placed under the flower beds and on the greenhouse walls.
