 Launched by Jack Dorsey in 2006,
Twitter is a microblog that limits posts
to 140-characters. It is important to
understand how to use twitter
because it not only acts as a portal for
you to keep up with your friends, but
also acts as a real-time search engine
covering millions of topics.
Pros: Social Media Sites
 Spread information faster than any other
media.
 Help students do better at school.
 Allow people to improve their relationships
and make new friends.
 Help people who are socially isolated or
shy connect with other people.
 Help to fight social racism.
 Offer teachers a platform for collaboration
with other teachers and communication
with students outside the classroom.
Cons: Social Media Sites
 Enable the spread of unreliable and false
information.
 Can cause the decrease of students’ grades
(heavy social media users)
 Lead to stress and offline relationship
problems.
 Cause people to spend less time interacting
face-to-face.
