For many gamers, the “medium is mastery” as they spend hours destroying a nemesis. However, video games also can teach new skills and provide a platform for social good. “Admongo — Live the ADventure,” is a multimedia communications campaign designed and developed by Fleishman Hillard’s Creative Studio for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This campaign uses video game play to educate children ages 8–12 about advertising and marketing so they can become more discerning consumers of information and advertising. Explore the blurring lines between the next wave of public relations practice and our roles as communicators who are skilled in creative strategy, digital design and video game development. Gain insights into games that combine education and entertainment, and practical applications for developing games without a blockbuster budget.

Abstract: Farm-scale models quantify the cycling of nitrogen (N) and carbon (C) so are powerful tools for assessing the impact of management-related decisions on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, especially on dairy cattle farms, where the internal cycling is particularly important. Farm models range in focus (economic, environmental) and the detail with which they represent C and N cycling. We compared four models from this range in terms of on-farm production and emissions of GHGs, using standardized scenarios. The models compared were SFarMod, DairyWise, FarmAC and HolosNor. The scenarios compared were based on two soil types (sandy clay versus heavy clay), two roughage systems (grass only versus grass and maize), and two climate types (Eindhoven versus Santander). Standard farm characteristics were; area (50 ha), milk yield (7000 kg/head/year), fertiliser (275 kg N and 150 kg N/ha/year for grass and maize, respectively). Potential yields for grass 10t dry matter (DM)/ha/year in both areas, maize 14 t DM/ha/ year in Eindhoven and 18t DM/ha/ year in Santander. The import of animal feed and the export/import manure and forages was minimized. Similar total farm direct GHG emissions for all models disguised a variation between models in the contribution of the different on-farm sources. There were large differences between models in the predictions of indirect GHG emission from nitrate leaching. Results could be explained by differences between models in the assumptions made and detail with which underlying processes were represented. We conclude that the choice of an appropriate farm model is highly dependent upon the role it should play and the context within which it will operate, so the current diversity of farm models will continue into the future.

Developed for a friend's mum and shared for Dying Matters week 2015
LB, the #JusticeforLB campaign and the story so far - a visual journey through the early days of the social media campaign to get Justice following LB's (Connor Sparrowhawk) death. LB died in an NHS hospital in July 2013, an entirely preventable death. He had epilepsy and autism. The slides capture developments and progress, and methods used from Jan-Nov 2014.

Social Care Evidence in Practice: An English perspective George Julian
Developments in technology and research ensure there is more information available to us than ever before. Yet, many people working in social care report a difficulty in accessing, understanding and applying evidence to their practice. This presentation shares learning to date from a collaborative knowledge transfer project in England (SCEIP).
It covers the following methods: conferences and workshops; peer mentoring; leader’s forum; graphic facilitation; video; embedding researchers; developing a joint knowledge transfer framework; social media platforms including twitter and blogs; and practitioner research projects.
The Social Care Evidence in Practice (SCEIP) project is a partnership between the Personal Social Services Research Unit at the LSE and NIHR School for Social Care Research focused on bridging the gap between research and practice in social care. Collaborators include RAND Europe, research in practice for adults, and Social Services Research Group.
Now half way through a two year project, this presentation shares my reflections on learning so far and plans for the future. The co-productive project focuses on overcoming the barriers and supporting enablers in transferring knowledge to practice, and vice versa, as identified in academic literature (Levin 2013, Nutley et al 2007 and 2009, Wilkinson et al 2012) and through practitioner knowledge.
The presentation covers some future possibilities such as practice mentors for researchers; expert drop in sessions within local authorities; speed dating; production of a mobile application; development of animations and podcasts; putting research and practice on trial; and may possibly include a knowledge transfer ice cream van!!
Social media as a tool for citizen and community engagement #NCSAC 2012 WorkshopGeorge Julian
Slides that formed basis of social media session at NCAS Conference 2012.
This session will explore the potential value of social media for supporting engagement with services users and local communities to enhance stakeholder’s experience and involvement in the design, planning and evaluation of services.
We will explore what is known from research and theory about meaningful engagement with service users and citizens, using examples from children and adult services. We will also consider how a number of private sector organisations are identifying social media as a tool to enhance products and services that they deliver and as a mechanism to engage with service users.
A number of recommendations will be made for how the public sector can benefit from this learning. Attendees will leave with heightened awareness of the role that social media can play in supporting engagement with citizens, colleagues and communities.
The session would also provide the conference with an opportunity to extend its reach to a virtual audience not in attendance. While social media may not be mainstream amongst Directors and Strategic Leaders, it is considered to be increasingly key to the lives of many citizens, and this session will raise the profile of social media as a tool, but also provide an opportunity to engage citizens with the work that we do.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.
