The Smerch 9K58 MLRS is a multiple launch rocket system produced in Russia. It uses a 12-tube launcher mounted on an MAZ-543M 8x8 wheeled truck chassis, and has a crew of four. A separate MAZ-543A 8x8 transloader vehicle carries an additional 12 rockets and mechanically loads the launcher. Fire control is handled by the Vivari FCS in a command vehicle, which can control up to six launchers and uses satellite and radio systems to communicate. A miniature aerial vehicle is also being developed that could be launched from Smerch to provide real-time battlefield surveillance data.
