1. PURPOSE
Analysis of the Particle Size Distribution of the slurry at the outlet of the mixer.
2. FIELD OF APPLICATION
All LAFARGE Gypsum Division sites producing Plasterboard.
3. PRINCIPLE
Sampling of the slurry at the outlet of the mixer and then stop of the hydration of the
stucco in the Ethanol for the analysis of the Particle Size Distribution.
4. EQUIPMENTS
 Spatula
 Plastic container (30*70mm)
 Absolute ethanol
5. WORKING INSTRUCTIONS
 The sample of slurry has to be collected just after the boots and not at the head
pool.
 Use the required equipment to perform properly the sampling

 Take the sample of the slurry just after the boots and in the middle of the width
as shown on the picture below
 Take the sample in order to have between 0.5 and 1 cm of paste on the spatula

 Make 3 samples (use the 3 flasks)
 Put the sample directly into the flask. Make sure that there is no remaining slurry
on the side of the plastic flask. Closed the cover as quickly as possible.
 Mix during 20s in order to stop the hydration
