The ghost of the soldier
This legend takes place in a small town ´Tarry Town in North
America´. Then this place changed the name to Sleepy Hollow.
Everyone in this town believed in ghost and spirits.
There were many stories. The most famous was “the headless
horseman”. The people said that the man who was a soldier lost
his head by a cannonball in a terrible battle. Every night, the
horseman went to the battlefield to look for his head.

3. Chapter 2
The school
master
The school master of sleepy hollow was a man named Ichabod
Crane . He was very tall and thin. Ichabod loved food and singing
too. He taught a group of young people to sing psalms.
Ichabod didn’t have a house so he stayed at the houses of
farmers.
He believed in god but he also believed in ghosts and spirits.
Ichabod favourite ghost story were about the Headless horseman.

4. Chapter 3
Ichabod and Katrina
One day a new pupil joined Ichabod’s group of psalm singers. Her
name was Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter of a rich farmer.
Katrina was eighteen years old and she was a very pretty girl. She was
Baltus’ only child, so when her parents died, she was going to inherit
the farm.
Ichabod went to Baltus’ farm and he liked it because it had a lot of fat
and healthy animals. He tought he had to marry katrina.

5. Chapter 4
Brom Bones
There was a problem. All young men admired Katrina .
One of them was Brom Bones. He was
tall, handsome, strong and brave. He enjoyed playing
tricks on people.
When Brom Bones heard about Ichabod’s visits to
Katrina he was not happy. Katrina’s parents liked
Ichabod.
Brom Bones couldn’t fight Ichabod because Ichabod was
afraid of him. So, Brom Bones started playing tricks on
the schoolmaster. Once, he moved Ichabod’s furniture.
Next he taught his dog to make a noise when Ichabod
sang.
One autumn afternoon, Ichabod was invited to a party
at Van Tassel farm. He was very happy because he
thought Katrina’s parents wanted him to marry their
daughter.

6. Chapter 5
The Party
Ichabod was invited to Katrina’s party. He was very
excited because he thought that he would win
Katrina’s love. He borrowed Hans Van Ripper’s horse to
ride to the party. He lent him a horse that was old and
thin and it had only one eye.
Later, Ichabod arrived at the party. Brom bones was
also at the party. He was telling stories in loud voice.
Ichabod like dancing very much but he looked very
strange. Ichabod started dancing with Katrina. After
the dancing had finished, a group of people were
telling ghost stories. Later, the party finished. Ichabod
went to find Katrina and told her that he wanted to ask
her a question. But Katrina didn’t look very happy. A
few minutes later Ichabod saw Katrina with Brom
Bones. He held Katrina’s hand and kissed it. He left sad

7. Chapter 6
A terrible race
When the party finished Ichabod returned with
Gunpowder, the horseman looked at something in the
forest and when Ichabod looked, he was afraid . It was the
shape of a large man on a huge black horse. Gunpowder
ran towards the bridge and when they passed the strange
horseman , he started to move too. He began to follow
them . They crossed the bridge together. They rode side
by side , it was life a terrible race.The horseman was the
headless horseman and he was carrying his head in his
hands. Ichabod saw a white building , he thought it was
the church were the horseman ´s body was buried .
Ichabod could cross the bridge . After that he turned
around and saw that the headless horseman was going to
throw his head . The schoolmaster fell off the horse and
laid on the ground.

8. Chapter 7
What happened to Ichabod?
The next day Ichabod ´s horse returned to Van
Ripper´s farm but there was no sing of Ichabod . The
farmers found Ichabod hat with a smashed pumping
next to it .
Ichabod was never heard again in Sleepy Hollow . Al
though later it seemed that was alive in New York
working as a lawyer , earing a lot of money .
Soon after Ichabod disappearance, Brom Bones
married Katrina
He used to laught when he was asked about Ichabod.
