Ichabod Crane is sent to investigate a series of murders in Sleepy Hollow, New York in 1799 where victims are found beheaded. The villagers claim the murderer is the Headless Horseman, a supernatural figure. Crane ignores this at first and uses scientific techniques to investigate. He develops feelings for Katrina Van Tassel. With the help of orphan Masbath, they discover the Horseman's grave is a portal between worlds. Crane eventually learns Lady Van Tassel is behind the murders to claim land, and returns the Horseman's skull to stop the killings. Crane, Katrina and Masbath then leave for New York to start new lives.

Synopsis
Year 1799. The agent Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is sent by his superiors
to the village Sleepy Hollow, a place in the state of New York where a
serial murderer beheads his victims. Once there, the villagers tell the
legend of a headless horseman who roams around and that is to blame for
the killings. To solve the mystery, the police officer will have the help of
young Masbath (Marc Pickering), an orphaned boy who wants to avenge
the death of his father.

In 1799, Ichabod Crane, an NYPD is sent by his superiors to a village in
upstate New York, Sleepy Hollow, to investigate a series of murders in
which the victims were found beheaded.
Ichabod uses a novel research techniques, although as yet unproven such
as fingerprints and autopsies. Reach Sleepy Hollow armed with his bag of
scientific tools only to be told by the elders of the city that the murderer is
not of flesh and blood, but rather a headless supernatural warrior from
beyond the grave who rides at night on a steed Massive black.
Crane is installed in a room in the house of the richest family in town, the
Van Tassels, where he developed a special attraction and feelings towards
his daughter, the mysterious Katrina and she to him. Ichabod begins his
investigation by ignoring the supposed supernatural, until he meets the
Headless Horseman.
At night suffers nightmares about the memories you have from when I
was a child (his father tortured his mother to death).
Deepening the mystery with the help of Masbeth young orphan, whose
father was a victim of the Horseman, Crane discovers in the western forest
"the twisted tree of the dead" is the point where the tomb of the rider,

3. which in turn is an input between the two worlds: the natural and the
supernatural.
Ichabod notes that the rider's skull is, discovering that it's over should
return the stolen head of the rider.
The murders continue until I find a shady plot of revenge that revolves
around land rights by Katrina's stepmother, Lady Van Tassel, sending the
rider to cut the head of those who get in his plan for revenge, being
Katrina's last victim in his plans.
Following a fight in the windmill and a stagecoach chase through the
woods, Crane eventually thwarts Lady Van Tassel plans by returning the
skull to the rider.
The rider and his head, picks her to Lady Van Tassel who looks horrified as
you head back to hell with her.
Once completed work on Sleepy Hollow, Crane returns to New York
accompanied by Katrina and the young Masbeth where the three begin a
new life, in time for the new century.
