Salt Lake City saw a growing need for more soccer fields as the sport increased in popularity along the Wasatch Front. They wanted to address this by providing a 180-acre regional soccer complex with 18 multi-use soccer fields, as well as softball and baseball fields, to serve as a "home field" for local teams that previously had to travel long distances for tournaments. The complex is environmentally friendly with recirculating ponds to handle stormwater and 40 acres set aside as natural habitat.
