high quality retouching accessible to anyone in the world.
● Skylab uses artificial intelligence to provide professional volume
photographers with a single tool for retouch, crop, color correction,
etraction, and etc.

● Skylab was founded in 2018 by TJ Rak, a photographer with 15 years
of industry experience, and Alireza Shafaei, a machine learning
PhD.
● Together they are building the picture perfect team to bring the
future of portrait editing to the world, from Vancouver, Canada.

4. Skylab’s History
● 2019 - Skylab launches their first color, crop and retouch products all
designed for automation.
● 2020 - With industry evidence of 90% reduction in production time,
Skylab is admitted into the UBC Hatch program and UC Berkeley
Skydeck programs for acceleration.
● 2021 - As system level changes are validated, Skylab adds additional
retouching and extraction services.
● 2022 - Skylab doubled their product offerings including
revolutionary glare removal and video services.

● Studio provides automated retouching for studio quality photos
every time. These docs will help you get up and running with Studio
quickly and discover how Studio can help you get the best out of
your photos.
● To set up studio account:
1. Visit https://studio.skylabtech.ai/users/new

● When signing up for
a new Studio
account, you will be
asked to supply an
account name.
● By default, you will
become the owner
of the account and
will be able to invite
new users to the
account.

● Users
○ Each person who logs in to Studio should have their own user.
○ Similar to other tools, Studio users are intended to be owned by
individuals instead of companies.
○ Studio users can only belong to a single account, e.g. a user
belongs to their company account.

● Accounts
○ Accounts are meant to represent organizations. Each account
has its own subscription and can process jobs.
○ Users belonging to an account can be one of two types.

● Owners
○ The owners of an account are able to manage jobs, profiles,
invite other users, and adjust all settings within the account.
● Staff
○ The staff of an account are able to manage jobs and profiles
within the account but are not able to invite new users or adjust
any settings of the account.

● Inviting Users
○ Owners of an account are able to invite new users to the
account. This option is available at Settings -> Members.
○ When accepting an account invitation as a user, the user will
automatically be placed as a Staff member of the account.

● Photos in your Studio account are processed by specific
parameters you provide in profiles.
● A profile represents a group of settings which when applied to a
photo can cause cropping, color adjustment, and retouching.
● When first setting up a Studio account, a default profile will be
generated for your consumption. You will likely want to customize
this profile and create a set of new profiles as well before you start
processing photos.

● Creating a Profile
○ To create a profile:
■ Click Profiles in the menu bar
■ Click Create Profile
○ On the profile form, enter in a meaningful name that you will
easily remember the use of.
○ It is highly suggested to give a short description of the profile
and what it does so that you can simply read the description
instead of looking through the parameters later to remind
yourself of what the profile does.

● Editing a Profile
○ To edit a profile:
■ Click Profiles in the menu bar
■ Click the profile you wish to edit
■ Click Edit
● Deleting a Profile
○ To delete a profile:
■ Click Profiles in the menu bar
■ Click the profile you wish to edit then click Delete
16. Jobs

● Jobs allow you to process photos in bulk within Studio. Each job
has a single profile attached to it and multiple photos.
● When a job is processed, the profile is applied to each photo with
the resulting photo being made available for download after
completion.

● Creating a Job
○ To create a job:
■ Click Jobs in the menu bar
■ Click Create Job
○ On the job form, select the profile you wish to apply to all photos
in the job. If you do not have the profile you wish, create a profile
.
○ Next, click on Add Photos and select all JPEG photos you wish
to process.
*Only JPEG and PNG photos are supported

● Process a Job
○ After a job is created, you will want to start to process it. Simply
click the Process button on the job page.
○ To process a previously created job:
■ Click Jobs in the menu bar
■ Click the job you wish to process
○ Click Process
○ Once a job is finished processing, each photo will be presented
with a Retouched link (as well as an Original link) so that you
may download the retouched version of the photo.

○ A job can only be processed if it is in the pending or error. If the
Process button is not appearing on the job page, check to see if
the job is already in the middle of being processed or in some
other state.
*If these Before & After links do not automatically appear, try refreshing your page to see the results of the job.
22. Usage Limits

● Photos
○ Each account within Studio is assigned a usage limit of how
many photos are able to be uploaded and processed within
their billing period.
○ If you go over your usage limit, no more photos will be able to
be uploaded to your account until your billing period rolls over
to the next period.
○ To increase your usage limit, you can change your account's
plan at any time and as often as you want.

● API Rate Limits
○ If you are using the Studio REST API, a rate limit of 100
requests per minute is applied to all access tokens.
○ If your access token reaches its rate limit, all successful API calls
will result in an HTTP 429 (Too Many requests) response code.
