Qualification
2016 University of Strathclyde. PhD Pharmaceutical Science.
Thesis titled: The development of a nasal drug delivery system using Capsella bursa-Pastoris
seeds mucilage. The research focused on developing a naturally extracted polymer from plant
mucilage into nasal drug delivery system. First started with extracting the mucilage from the
seeds then went into exploring its properties through physicochemical properties
characterization to find its thermal properties, vapour sorption ability, degree of esterification
and chemical structure elucidation followed by formulating and developing a nasal drug
release system which its controlled drug release properties were studied using Franz cells of
diffusion. The system mucoadhesion characteristics and rheological properties were further
explored using AFM microscopy and hot-plate rheometer. The research concluded more
research was required with regard isolation and separation of the polymer from the mucilage.
2009 Bradford University Msc Pharmaceutical Service and MedicinesControl.
The study aspects of pharmaceutical services covered rational use of drugs,
pharmacovigilance, drug therapy in the world health organisation (WHO) risk areas,
managing drug supply, drug procurement, communication and critical assessment skills,
health psychology, drug donations, counterfeiting, research methods and management
training. While medicines control focused on drug regulations, developing a national drug
policy, drug licensing, natural products, drug testing and assurance of drug quality. The
postgraduate research towards the completion of MSC degree titled: Drug counterfeiting in
Libya.
1999 Al- Fatah University Bpharm,
Five years of undergraduate pharmacy study covered a wide range of topics. Under graduate
research towards the completion of Bpharm titled: Requirements for dug Registration in
Libya. It explored drug systems that create simple procedures for the identification and listing
of marketed drugs in Libya in order to provide means for monitoring and controlling them.

knowledge acquired on MSc course where I learnt about FDA and ICH drug testing
regulations.
 Sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge pharmaceutical sciences relating to solid and liquid
dosage forms. The experience in solid dosage forms was developed during working as teacher
assistant in Tripoli University, where depth knowledge of bio pharmaceutical science of oral
dosage form was a part of curriculum (evidence of Syllabus is available).
 Experience on drug delivery was developed further during PhD research,in addition to
experience on drug formulation gained from demonstration for pharmaceutics and pharmacy
practice lab sessions in Strathclyde University.
 Professional training on statistical methods on sample selection, and data analysis for in-vivo
and clinical studies, accompanied with clinical trials protocols’.
 Interpreting data, and extracting conclusion presented in progress reports and PhD thesis.
 Experience working on statistical software Minitab®
and SPSS®
.
 Qualitative research skills gained during Master’s degree project in which I dealt with
qualitative data based on surveys.
Communication, presentation,and interpersonal skills
 Strong written and verbal communication skills gained throughout my academic career and
presented in participating in different conferences with posters show case my research results.
 Excellent verbal communication skills developed over the years through undergraduate
teaching experience as teacher assistant in Al Fatah University and in University of
Strathclyde.
 A member of University of Strathclyde International society and collaborated in organising
the first International Night in 2014.
 Involved in Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science activities including the
Annual International Night events as well as Burns night and other social activities.
 Networking by attending industrial Insight meetings and seminars held at the Strathclyde
Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science, joining societies for e.g., UKICRS.
Experience ofrelevant student supervision and teaching activities
 Co-supervising undergraduate students during their summer student exchange program and a
master’s degree student during my academic career.
 Providing teaching undergraduate laboratory sessions continuously for 6 years abroad, which
included preparing the teaching material, and students’ assessment.
 In addition to 3 years demonstrating for lab sessions in UK. Co-supervising undergraduates’
students during their summer student exchange program and a master degree student.
 Training on using Desire2Learn2016 on online teaching and utilising effective software tools
for university teaching, and class assessment.
Organisation and time management
 Good attention to detail in experimental setup gained through out academic career by keeping
notes of experiment and details of conditions.

 Working in a busy lab required capability to multitask and run multiple experiments in
parallel to work with the set timeline and make the best use of time to achieve the target. In
many occasions two experiment were run simultaneously either for faster performance or
instrument availability.
 Good organisational and prioritisation skills by preparing timeline for experiment and
arranging experimental lab supplies and discussing with supervisor. In many occasion my
supervisor were more than pleased with the lab work schedules I prepared and how I achieved
them in timely manner.
 Keeping experimental lab book and reporting all experimental procedures, results and
experiment condition and notes in easy to read and follow manner.
 Training on utilising Gant charts for organising work and manging projects.
Team and collaborative work
 Working in the pharmacy of the National Diabetes and Endocrine Diseases Centre required
understanding of team work. The pharmacy team was huge but my activities and contribution
to the team was highly awarded by appointing me to shadow the head of the pharmacy
department only few months after starting work. I have fast learned ability to organise team
work and be effective player and promoted.
 Moreover, team work was the main key to successfully attain gold certificate in Enterprise as
results were due to collaboration, and involvement of the whole team in the competition
project. I was very effective and collaborative in all stages of the competition toward the
award. And the whole team reached the last stage of the competition.
 The doctoral research experience was built while working on research that has been
collaborative with James Hutton institute –Dundee. The collaboration included exchanging
information and knowledge about the polymer under study with Dr Pietro Iannetta.
Innovative, problem solving and taking initiatives
 Optimisation of diffusion study technique to suit the experiment condition in the lab and
writing –up every note was helpful during my study and useful for the following student who
intended to use Franz cells available in the department for nasal drug delivery.
 During the lab work, I faced a problem of how to extract the mucilage from the outer seed
coat not the whole seed. Taking the information available about the seeds plantation method
and available information about the same plant family, different methods of extraction were
developed to extract the target mucilage with less interfering substance which were found
affecting the properties of the mucilage and its efficacy as drug delivery system.
