I will thus very briefly outline the use of Systemic Functional Language theory and demonstrate the downloadable example Moodle materials. I will also propose that an opportunity might exist to employ this alternative "functional grammar" in a constructional approach to the design of e-learning language modules. The demonstration materials have been successfully used with SEN students in a small Swiss foundation school for learners who have faced difficulties using more traditional approaches. Use or adaption of the materials does not require deep theoretical study and the demos can be readily used as presented.

Often times people present metrics or KPIs (Key Performance Metrics) as their ROI. ROI is not a metric. It's a comparison of the benefits vs the costs of doing something. Costs tend to be made up of the costs of people, process and technology. It's the benefits that most people find more difficult to give attribution to and why more people are unsure of how to calculate social media ROI. This is something that I help companies understand.
This presentation uses case studies of the comparison of the costs vs. the benefits of using social media monitoring.
The case studies include examples from:
• Insurance Company who wanted to look at the effectiveness of an advertising campaign vs. a competitors campaign
• A craft company who creates products for scrap booking-type crafts; they wanted to look at product development & the effectiveness of their marketing
• A company that creates medical devices for diabetes & insulin injections who wanted to look at the effectiveness of their product launch and marketing
• A healthy kid snack company who wanted to examine a product launch and their product marketing

Simulation enables shipbuilders to shorten their engineering development cycle by troubleshooting designs
using virtual prototypes. Simulations of virtual prototypes provide not only gross performance parameters,
but also detailed phenomenological data and the insight needed to make design decisions quickly, with confidence and authority. For example: the impact of appendage placement on a hull can be quickly assessed to
determine the optimal location; sail designs can be easily optimized; stress concentrations in structural
members can be efficiently identified and reduced; and electromagnetic interference can be determined
and mitigated.
Lower Cost and Higher Quality
Identifying problems with virtual prototypes not only saves time, it also reduces development costs and improves
quality, safety and reliability. Parts and systems work as expected, with fewer surprises. The effect of different operating conditions and environments — such as different flow profiles entering the
propulsion system — can be readily assessed. Thicknesses and fiber orientations in composite structures can be quickly determined. Vibrations and fatigue can be minimized,
and explosions and safety hazards mitigated.
Innovative Design
Innovative designs often require innovative engineering solutions. For example, the design of cargo space with
