This document summarizes a study examining consumer attitudes towards apple juice produced using two new food processing technologies: high-pressure processing (HPP) and pulsed electric field processing (PEF). Interviews were conducted in Norway, Denmark, Hungary, and Slovakia using a means-end chain approach. The study found that consumers recognized benefits of HPP and PEF juices over conventionally pasteurized juice, such as better taste and nutrition. However, some consumers expressed skepticism about potential risks of PEF. The researchers conclude it is important for producers to provide evidence that new technologies are safe in order to gain consumer acceptance of resulting food products.
Beyond NPS: How to Measure the Entire Customer JourneyJeff Reekers
Presented by Aircall (http://aircall.io)
NPS has become a staple for companies to track their customer experience. We use it to forecast churn, appease investors, and view our customer base from a 10,000 foot view.
However, is surveying the customer base for an NPS rating enough? And are there other measurements that we should be considering for rolling out a credible NPS process while additionally assuring we monitor the entire experience a customer has throughout the customer lifecycle?
Aaron Bleiweiss, Director of Customer Success at Handshake, discusses how to effectively rollout and measure Onboarding Satisfaction surveys (OSAT) and Customer Satisfaction surveys (CSAT), how to drive decisions that instigate change based on the trends and how to use all measurements cohesively to create an end-to-end optimal customer experience.

Open Source Telecom Software Survey 2022, Alan QuayleAlan Quayle
The survey gathered responses from 120 participants in 2022 compared to 114 in 2021. It covered general topics such as DDoS attacks, security practices, STIR/SHAKEN implementation, IPv6 deployment, and expectations for major tech companies over the next two years. Key findings included that around half of participants have experienced a DDoS attack in 2022 and application-level attacks were as common as volumetric attacks. Most organizations take both reactive and proactive security approaches but more so reactive. STIR/SHAKEN implementation is ongoing with international carriers needing it to terminate traffic in North America. IPv6 deployment remains steady with no major differences between regions. This survey provides insights into trends in the open source tele

Shifting from Voice to Workflow Management
Filipe Leitão, Global Service Provider Channel SE, RingCentral
There is an ongoing consolidation of the Cloud Communications market where mainstream providers compete against each other for the same spaces, UCaaS / CCaaS / CPaaS.
Weapons of choice are the same for everyone: instant messaging, and audio & video conferencing. Most capabilities provided by mainstream UC providers are table stakes.
Find out how RingCentral is looking at UC from more than just a siloed perspective by going one step further and co-innovating with Service and Technology Providers to become a workflow management platform.

Time to ditch the ‘dumb-pipe’ – reinventing the core mobile network, to put developers first.
Mike Bromwich, CEO / Co-Founder Stacuity & Tim Dowling, Co-Founder Stacuity
The emergence of public cloud has revolutionized the way developers can muster and deploy virtual infrastructures, as and when required.
In contrast, mobile networks are still rigidly defined and protected by operators, who are unable or unwilling to offer such control and flexibility.
As a result, the mobile network operates as little more than a dumb-pipe (unless you have lots of patience and deep pockets).
Addressing this problem requires a different approach, not just the creation of a thin façade over legacy network elements.
How Stacuity is reinventing the core mobile network, to put developers first.

How to bring down your own RTC platform. Sandro GauciAlan Quayle
Sandro Gauci provides a walkthrough for performing distributed denial of service (DDoS) simulations on real-time communication (RTC) platforms to test security. He recommends starting with simple bandwidth saturation or protocol attacks before moving to specific application attacks. Tools are needed to distribute attacks from nodes, monitor systems, and shut down attacks. Findings should be analyzed with engineers through root cause analysis and documented. Solutions may include updates, rate limiting, or code changes. Regular testing ensures a more robust RTC platform.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
11. Active Users Time in app
Two of the most important metrics for app companies
12. Feature fit
Social
Dating
Travel
Marketplace
Gaming
Low investment
Adding communication today is not a big
development effort
Communication over data has low
recurrent cost

Social is not an app, its where people are....
Social is not an app, its where people are....
We spend more and more time on mobile.
As such – mobile is now clearly our prefered device even for things we thought were PC centric. I used to work for MSN, and was part of driving getting Messenger picked up by the mobile ecco system, which was far more complex at that point in time.
Users tend to open applications with communication built in more often than others.
As you see Social Networking is by far the top catogory.
Time spent is not super high – yet...
But it’s growing 50% year-over-year
Adding communication to your app will drive both AU and Time spent in app
Obviously there needs to be a fit!
There are many segments where users need to communicate with other users.
Just to mention a few, Social, Dating, Travel, Marketplace, Gaming, Any company with customer service
As a product manager, I do want to:
Keep the user in the app – when a user switches app, its lesss likely they will return
Have users keep coming back to the app
For communication
Low friction – why need to exchange phone numbers, email addresses or SkypeIds?
Rich communication
