- We spend more and more time on mobile. As such – mobile is now clearly our prefered device even for things we thought were PC centric. I used to work for MSN, and was part of driving getting Messenger picked up by the mobile ecco system, which was far more complex at that point in time.
- Users tend to open applications with communication built in more often than others. As you see Social Networking is by far the top catogory. Time spent is not super high – yet...
- But it’s growing 50% year-over-year
- Adding communication to your app will drive both AU and Time spent in app
- Obviously there needs to be a fit! There are many segments where users need to communicate with other users. Just to mention a few, Social, Dating, Travel, Marketplace, Gaming, Any company with customer service As a product manager, I do want to: Keep the user in the app – when a user switches app, its lesss likely they will return Have users keep coming back to the app For communication Low friction – why need to exchange phone numbers, email addresses or SkypeIds? Rich communication
