2. My name is Sinbad, from the city of
Basrah. During the 8th century of
the Abbasid Caliphate*, I travelled the
seven seas in search of adventure.
In my journeys, I encountered different
cultures and civilisations. I prided myself
on being a trusted friend to good and
decent people from many lands.
I believed in justice and fought to
defend the weak and the oppressed.
I was ever ready to fight evil, no
matter what form it took.

3. My exploits were legendary,
and stories about me were told
throughout the civilised world.
People spoke of how I helped the villagers
of Apposa against the man-eating apes
that had driven them from their land, and
put a stop to their reign of terror.

4. They talked of how I fought and
blinded the giant on the island of
Goul, thus saving my crew from
becoming the monster’s feast.

5. And they revelled in the tale of how
I discovered the city of the Halkians
– demon-possessed people who
transformed into murderous birdmen
– and put an end to their horrors.

6. I was always ready to help
those who needed me. So,
when I received a plea for
assistance from King Haakim of
Hasis, my crew and I set sail for
his country immediately.
Ahoy, all
hands! Land
ahead!
Sinbad,
the lookout
has spotted
Hasis.
That’s excellent
news, Litho. With the
wind at our backs, and
you as my first mate, we
certainly arrived here
in good time.
And how
are you today,
Miko?
CHEE!
CHEE!
I wonder what
King Haakim needs?
It must be important if
he dispatched ships
just to find you.
Whatever it is,
I know it is important.
I have known him for many
years. Haakim’s a proud man
and not one to ask favours
from even his closest
friends.

7. Sinbad, the legendary hero of the high seas, has faced many adventures
in his time, but none will challenge him more than the one he finds when he
answers a call for help from an old friend, King Haakim of Hasis.
Haakim's son, Prince Habib, is spoilt and self-centred and is becoming too
much for his father to handle. Haakim knows that if the boy continues his
wayward ways, he will never become the leader Hasis deserves. Fearing for
the fate of his son and his subjects, Haakim implores Sinbad to help put the
boy on the straight and narrow path.
Sinbad has faith that Habib can change. But when the prince puts Sinbad
and his crew in jeopardy, sending them on a dangerous and perilous journey,
his faith is put to test. Will Habib live up to his potential, and become the
man his father wants him to be?
