in this area. Although many demonstrations have been performed that show that the performance of a
Peer-to-Peer system is highly dependent on the underlying network characteristics, much of the
evaluation of Peer-to-Peer proposals has used simplified models that fail to include a detailed model of
the underlying network. This can be largely attributed to the complexity in experimenting with a scalable
Peer-to-Peer system simulator built on top of a scalable network simulator. A major problem of
unstructured P2P systems is their heavy network traffic. In Peer-to-Peer context, a challenging problem
is how to find the appropriate peer to deal with a given query without overly consuming bandwidth?
Different methods proposed routing strategies of queries taking into account the P2P network at hand.
This paper considers an unstructured P2P system based on an organization of peers around Super-Peers
that are connected to Super-Super-Peer according to their semantic domains; in addition to integrating
Decision Trees in P2P architectures to produce Query-Suitable Super-Peers, representing a community
of peers where one among them is able to answer the given query. By analyzing the queries log file, a
predictive model that avoids flooding queries in the P2P network is constructed after predicting the
appropriate Super-Peer, and hence the peer to answer the query. A challenging problem in a schemabased Peer-to-Peer (P2P) system is how to locate peers that are relevant to a given query. In this paper,
architecture, based on (Super-)Peers is proposed, focusing on query routing. The approach to be
implemented, groups together (Super-)Peers that have similar interests for an efficient query routing
method. In such groups, called Super-Super-Peers (SSP), Super-Peers submit queries that are often
processed by members of this group. A SSP is a specific Super-Peer which contains knowledge about: 1.
its Super-Peers and 2. The other SSP. Knowledge is extracted by using data mining techniques (e.g.
Decision Tree algorithms) starting from queries of peers that transit on the network. The advantage of
this distributed knowledge is that, it avoids making semantic mapping between heterogeneous data
sources owned by (Super-)Peers, each time the system decides to route query to other (Super-) Peers.
The set of SSP improves the robustness in queries routing mechanism, and the scalability in P2P
Network. Compared with a baseline approach,the proposal architecture shows the effect of the data
mining with better performance in respect to response time and precision.

Combining Approximate String Matching Algorithms and Term Frequency In The De...
One of the key factors behind plagiarism is the availability of a large amount of data and information on the internet that can be accessed rapidly. This increases the risk of academic fraud and intellectual property theft. As increasing anxiety over plagiarism grow, more observation was drawn towards automatic plagiarism detection. Hybrid algorithms are regarded as one of the most prospective ways to detect similarity of everyday language or source code written by a student. This study investigates the applicability and success of combining both the Levenshtein edit distance approximate string matching algorithm and the term frequency inverse document frequency (TF-IDF), thereby boosting the rate of similarity measured using cosine similarity. The proposed hybrid algorithm is also able to detect plagiarism occurred on natural language, source codes, exact, and disguised words. The developed algorithm can detect rearranged words, inter-textual similarity of insertion or deletion and grammatical changes. In this research three various dataset are used for testing: automated machine paragraphs, mistyped words and java source codes. Overall, the system proved to be detecting plagiarism better than the yet alone TF-IDF approach.

P2P is commonly used for applications that involve parallelizable or componentized tasks, content/file sharing, and collaboration where users can interact and edit shared information.

The phenomenon of online social networks reaches millions of users in the Internet nowadays. In these, users present themselves, their interests and their social links which they use to interact with other users. We present in this paper LifeSocial.KOM, a p2p-based platform for secure online social networks which provides the functionality of common online social networks in a totally distributed and secure manner. It is plugin-based, thus extendible in its functionality, providing secure communication and access-controlled storage as well as monitored quality of service, addressing the needs of both, users and system providers. The platform operates solely on the resources of the users, eliminating the concentration of crucial operational costs for one provider. In a testbed evaluation, we show the feasibility of the approach and point out the potential of the p2p paradigm in the field of online social networks.

The peer-to-peer paradigm gained more and more impact in the last years. The reason for P2P arising now is related to the continuous development of device capabilities in the last years, like CPU power, storage space and bandwidth. However, the demand for services and resources is permanently increasing, although the peers have a variety of other resources themselves. In this paper we present the idea of a P2P system acting as a service provider using the resources of participating peers and stating guarantees on the quality of the service it provides. In order to fulfill these service level agreements, the peers confederate to a distributed supervisor of peer resources (P2PCLOUD), monitoring the network, predicting trends on resource availabilities and deciding on resource allocation strategies. This paper discusses the challenges and a solution draft of the concept of P2PCLOUD.

We present in this paper LifeSocial.KOM, a p2p-based platform for secure online social networks which provides the functionality of common online social networks in a totally distributed and secure manner. It is plugin-based, thus extendible in its functionality, providing secure communication and access-controlled storage as well as monitored quality of service, addressing the needs of both, users and system providers. The platform operates solely on the resources of the users, eliminating the concentration of crucial operational costs for one provider. In a testbed evaluation, we show the feasibility of the approach and point out the potential of the p2p paradigm in the field of online social networks.

The peer-to-peer paradigm gained more and more impact in the last years. The reason for P2P arising now is related to the continuous development of device capabilities in the last years, like CPU power, storage space and bandwidth. However, the demand for services and resources is permanently increasing, although the peers have a variety of other resources themselves. In this paper we present the idea of a P2P system acting as a service provider using the resources of participating peers and stating guarantees on the quality of the service it provides. In order to fulfill these service level agreements, the peers confederate to a distributed supervisor of peer resources (P2PCLOUD), monitoring the network, predicting trends on resource availabilities and deciding on resource allocation strategies. This paper discusses the challenges and a solution draft of the concept of P2PCLOUD.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

Spark is the widely used ETL tool for processing, indexing and ingesting data to serving stack for search. Milvus is the production-ready open-source vector database. In this talk we will show how to use Spark to process unstructured data to extract vector representations, and push the vectors to Milvus vector database for search serving.

It is with great pleasure that we extend to you an invitation to the 5th Power Grid Model Meet-up, scheduled for 6th June 2024. This event will adopt a hybrid format, allowing participants to join us either through an online Mircosoft Teams session or in person at TU/e located at Den Dolech 2, Eindhoven, Netherlands. The meet-up will be hosted by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university specializing in engineering science & technology.
Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
