This document describes 6 simple machines: the inclined plane, lever, pulley, wedge, screw, and wheel and axle. For each machine, it provides a definition and real-world example. The inclined plane is exemplified by a ramp, the lever by a seesaw, the pulley by a light switch, the wedge by nail clippers, the screw by a light bulb attachment, and the wheel and axle by a wheelbarrow.

2. This simple machine is an inclined plane. This real world example is a ramp. The
ramp is a slopping surface used to roll something smoothly.

3. This simple machine is a lever. A lever is a stiff bar that rests on a support.
This real world example is a child's seesaw. The seats on the long board
allows kids to balance each others weight up and down using a fulcrum.

4. This simple machine is a pulley. A pulley is a wheel and axle with rope or chain
attached. This real world example is a light bulb switch it makes the light bulb come on
so that you can see light.

5. This simple machine is a wedge. A wedge….. This real world example is a nail clipper
which uses two sharp points the front of the nail clipper to drive into your nail and cut
it. A wedge is a an object with a slanting side.

6. This simple machine is a screw. This real world example shows a light bulb at the bottom
of a light bulb is a screw. This part of the light bulb makes it easy to attach it to a socket
so that electricity can flow through to make light.

7. This simple machine is a wheel and axle. A wheel an axle is a wheel with a rod . A
wheel barrow is a real world example. It makes life easier by the wheel and axle part
letting you roll something around. The reason you put wheels on a wheel borrow is
because it is able to roll what ever you put inside around smoothly.
