Deafness is a major public health issue in Pakistan, with an estimated 9 million people having some form of hearing loss. Of those, 1.25 million are profoundly deaf, though deafness is often ignored, especially in rural areas with limited health resources. While the WHO estimates the national prevalence of disability is 2.49%, with deafness accounting for 7.43% of cases, only 5% of deaf children have access to education. There is a need for Bible study and other programs to serve the estimated 300,000 deaf Christians and religious minorities in Pakistan to help them learn about Jesus.
