Shinty is a team sport played with sticks and a small leather ball on an outdoor field up to 155 meters long. Players aim to hit the ball into their opponent's net at speeds over 100 miles per hour. It is a thrilling experience for both players and spectators. Shinty dates back prior to recorded Scottish history and is thought to predate Christianity, with roots in Ireland where a similar game called hurling is still played.
