Sherlock Holmes was a famous fictional detective created by Scottish author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes lived at 221B Baker Street in London and solved various cases with the help of his friend and chronicler Dr. Watson. Holmes had many literary adventures investigating crimes and outsmarting his archenemy Professor Moriarty. Conan Doyle wrote over 50 short stories and novels featuring Sherlock Holmes from 1887 until 1927, though Holmes remains popular today through numerous films, television shows, games and adaptations of the original stories.
