Strong Work Ethic and Leadership Skills Recommendation
1. To Whom It May Concern:
I am happy to be writing this recommendation on behalf of Shem McConnell in furtherance of his
application for a position within your organization. Shem served as an intern under my direct supervision
in the Columbus, Georgia office of the David Perdue for U.S. Senate campaign. He interned in the office
over a period of six months and, by Election Day, had put in 137 hours of work on behalf of our
campaign.
During his internship, I had the opportunity to get to know Shem on both a personal and
professional level. I believe he would be an excellent addition to any organization because of his
unbelievably strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to work well with a wide variety of people. I
had a large group of high school interns in the Columbus office, and Shem stood out from the other
interns in that group because of his personal standards of excellence. Regardless of the task he was given,
Shem approached it with a great attitude and consistently performed at higher level than other interns in
the office. I had many interns who had a tendency to become less focused and dependable as the
campaign moved into its later stages. Shem also stood out because his reliability and ability to always
stay focused on the task at hand.
As someone who has spent much of my life involved in student government, student leadership
programs, and politics, I have had the opportunity to observe many individuals who display impressive
leadership skills. During his internship in our office, Shem showed leadership skills that I have very
rarely seen in someone his age. I know that he has demonstrated these same leadership qualities in every
activity in which he has been involved. I would highly recommend Shem for any position for which he is
qualified, and I believe he would be a great asset to any organization that chooses to bring him on.
Sincerely,
