2. WATER POLLUTION
The under ground stores of water are the major source of
fresh water.
It provide drinking water.
Ground water replenish our lakes, pond and wetlands that
are vital to ecosystem.
But this vital resource is getting depleted chiefly from
human activities.
The chief sources of pollutants are from industry,
agriculture, radioactive wastes and domestic wastes.
Major pollutants are:-
1. Nitate 2.Pesticides 3. Arsenic 4.Fluoride 5.Salts
3. METHODS OF WATERMANAGEMENT
1. RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEM:
collection of rainwater from surface which
directly receives rainfall
2. GROUNDWATER RECHARGE: a
hydrologic process where water moves
downward from surface to groundwater.
3 . Greywater system: recycling
wastewater from non-toilet plumbing system.
4. 4. STP SYSTEM: recycling greywater and
blackwater.
5. RETROFIT WATER CONSERVATION:
replacement of existing plumbing
equipment with equipment that use less
water.
6. BEHAVIOURAL PRACTICES:
modifying water usehabitsfor a more
efficient use of water.
5. CONSERVATION OF WATER RESOURCES
DAMS: simply hydraulic structures
that act as a barrier between source
and destination of flowing water.
RAINWATER HARVESTING:
accumulation and storage of
rainwater for reuse on-site
BAMBOO DRIP IRRIGATION SYSTEM:
using bamboo pipes for tapping the
water from streams.
