Objective: Looking for a new career where I can apply my life experiences and gain new
experiences.
EDUCATION
Master of Education, Eastern Washington University, Cheney, Wash., 1990
Bachelor of Science/Agriculture Education, Washington State University, Pullman,
Wash., 1978-1981
SKILLS SUMMARY
As a teacher in the Washington state education system for 32 years, and currently as a
substitute teacher, I have experience interpreting and following government rules and policies
and selecting and using training, instructional methods and procedures and applying them
appropriately for situations as they arise. I am accustomed to working in a fast-paced,
changing environment that includes a diverse population and I am a confident, proactive
problem-solver who focuses and takes the time to listen and understand issues as they are
presented. Through my work in the public education system, I have become proficient in a
variety of software programs. I have gained customer service and public relations skills
through my years of part-time work as an award-winning Independent Mary Kay Consultant
and my seasonal work as a greeter at Maris Farms.
As a secondary teacher, I applied and interpreted state standards and then presented
them orally and through written communication to students, treating and interpreting so
each student, regardless of social and economic background or learning ability, could
learn with respect and dignity. Data from student learning is compiled electronically,
analyzed and presented to students, fellow staff, parents and administration.
During my time as Head of the Science Department at Lakeridge Junior High/Middle
School, we were able to integrate a new curriculum for all grade levels and revamp our
grading method for the science program to be more consistent within the department.
These enabled us to better track student learning and communicate better within our
department, other departments in the school, parents and students. Staff became more
efficient which allowed us to spend more time educating students.
