The cause of the 5% of people with hypertension is mainly due to
the poor diet and lifestyle choices (Eg.Smoking ,excessive alcohol
intake )
Food that contain high sodium and low potassium have been
proven to increase blood pressure levels .
Lack of exercise ,smoking, high alcohol intake, poor diet are all
factors that increase hypertension.

5. A study investigated the effects of dietary changes for three years on
hypertension
There were four treatment groups in the study (reduced
calories ,reduced sodium and increased potassium)
Evidence showed that all four groups had an effect in
lowering blood pressure but the reduced caloric diet had the
highest reduction
Conclusion : reduced sodium and caloric diet have implications
on preventing hypertension
