Cesar Garcia has several long term and short term goals. His long term goal is to work for an oil and gas company like Chesapeake Energy or Occidental Petroleum and eventually own his own company to retire young. His short term goals are to finish college, apply for jobs in oil and gas, and buy a house. His concentrations in business, natural resource management, and health science will help him achieve his long term career goal of working in the oil and gas industry.
Happiness at work is important for both employees and employers. Happy employees are more productive, loyal, and provide better customer service than unhappy employees. This leads to benefits for businesses like higher profits, growth, lower turnover and fewer issues like absenteeism and workplace stress. Leaders can promote happiness at work by focusing on positive relationships with employees and celebrating successes, as well as encouraging random acts of kindness among coworkers. Prioritizing both work results and relationships is key to creating a happy workplace.

Stress is the number one killer that negatively impacts both personal and professional lives. When stressed, productivity declines as it impairs clear thinking, self-control and temperament. To manage stress, it is important to understand its causes and assess issues' durations. Compartmentalizing work and life helps prevent stress buildup. Regular relaxation through activities enjoyed is crucial to recharge and gain a fresh perspective on challenges.
The document provides tips for managing stress in three key areas: (1) Understanding stress and that it is possible to reduce stress levels significantly with the right techniques, (2) Recognizing that stress can be both helpful and harmful depending on the amount, and (3) Outlining various stress management techniques including time management, prioritizing tasks, relaxing activities, maintaining health, and adopting stress-reducing habits. The overall message is that identifying personal stressors and applying targeted stress reduction methods can help lower stress levels considerably.

1) Homeostasis refers to the body's ability to regulate its internal environment to maintain stable conditions, despite changes in the external environment.
2) The concept was first described by Claude Bernard in the 1860s, and the term "homeostasis" was coined by Walter Cannon in 1932 to describe the coordinated physiological processes that maintain steady states.
3) Homeostasis involves negative feedback loops, where a deviation from the normal setpoint is detected by receptors, signaling the control center to activate effectors to correct the deviation and restore the normal condition. Positive feedback also occurs in some cases, like childbirth, to amplify a process.
This document summarizes Cesar Garcia's conclusions about the interdisciplinary perspectives of organizational leadership and health professions on hydraulic fracturing. It finds that understanding these perspectives comprehensively and having leadership in safety regulations improves work production and protects employees, the environment, and wildlife. Seeing how the disciplines work together to make hydraulic fracturing safer and easier to understand, future research should continue exploring how organizational leadership and health can solve problems together in this area.
Cesar Garcia discusses two disciplines relevant to his career in the oil and gas industry: organizational leadership and health professions. Organizational leadership involves taking charge of situations and tasks to complete work safely and effectively. Health professions help ensure worker safety and environmental compliance. Garcia will explore the costs and benefits of oil and gas extraction using insights from these two disciplines. He notes potential conflicts between the disciplines' assumptions and theories but finds they commonly focus on safety, precautions, and using new technologies. Garcia concludes the disciplines naturally work together in hydraulic fracturing operations by providing both leadership in the field and safety protections.
The document discusses two disciplines - organizational leadership and health professions - and how they relate to the oil and gas industry. It focuses on how organizational leadership is important for ensuring work is done correctly and safely. Health professions help protect worker and environmental safety, which is heavily regulated in the industry, particularly around issues like silica dust exposure and hydraulic fracturing. The goal of companies is to conduct extraction in a way that does not harm workers, the environment, or wildlife.
Gender roles are largely culturally defined rather than biological. Children learn appropriate gender roles from their environment and society. While gender roles have changed significantly in recent decades as more women enter the workforce, traditional views of gender still influence society. Feminists advocate for expanding options and challenging stereotypes to achieve greater equality and fairness between men and women.
Cesar Garcia is currently working full-time in the oil field while attending Texas Tech University full-time to pursue a degree in University Studies. He began working in the oil field part-time in high school at the encouragement of his stepfather. Garcia struggled financially as a student, often having to ask his parents for money. He chose to continue working full-time in the oil field during his college years to avoid financial difficulties. His degree concentrations in organizational leadership, health professions, and natural resource management are intended to help him secure a career in the oil field after graduation by emphasizing the safety, leadership, and environmental aspects valued by oil companies.
The document provides an annotated bibliography for a research paper on the topic of "Fracking and Families". It summarizes 6 sources that will be used to explore the costs and benefits of oil and natural gas extraction for communities and their families from the perspectives of organizational leadership and health applied science. The sources discuss the history of hydraulic fracturing technology, technologies used in the oil and gas industry, modeling of fracture networks, regulation of fracking in Texas, worker safety concerns, and regulation of fracking at federal and state levels.
The document discusses how new technologies and safety precautions in hydraulic fracturing can help protect both employees and the environment. It notes that while hydraulic fracturing has significantly increased natural gas production, some states have failed to properly regulate it, potentially harming local communities. Breathing silica dust during fracking operations can cause lung cancer in employees. The document recommends providing gas masks to prevent silica inhalation and using less chemicals to reduce water contamination risks for communities and wildlife.

Setting Goals
Long Term Goal:
My long-term career goal is to work for a competitive company in the natural gas and oil
industry and be well off financially. I would love to work or be working for Chesapeake Energy
or Occidental Petroleum as a company man or higher. I choose to work in the natural gas and oil
industry because I grew up around my whole life with my family. I want the natural gas and oil
to be my career until I retire. I also have high hopes in owning a company so I can retire at a
younger age. To be honest I really want the finer things in life. For example, I want good friends
and family, nice houses and trucks, a happy family of my own, success, and over to be happy. I
think being happy is the most important aspect to succeeding in life in the era we are now. What
I would need to do to achieve my goals is to work hard, but not with my back. I have to work
hard with my head. I have to be smarter than the person next to me, because he also has long-
term goals that he wants to reach as well. I work at Basic Energy Service now it relates to the
natural gas and oil industry. Right now I break my back at work while learning new knowledge
that I didn’t have before. This is also while attend college now, because without a college degree
it will take time to get a promotion. My plan to get to my long-term goal is to finish college and
get my degree, apply at both Chesapeake Energy and Occidental Petroleum, get hired because I
have connections at both companies, strive to be the best at my job, buy a house and get married,
and last but not least be happy with my job, close friends, and my loving family.
Short Term Goal:

The three short-term goals I have now is to finish school, apply for good natural gas and
oil jobs, and buy a house. These short-term goals are important to me because I feel like it’s
separating one from a graduated college student to a graduated young man. That to me is
important, because most graduated people want to find a good paying job when they finish
school. The reality behind all that is roughly about 27% of college students actually use their
degrees in their jobs. The other 73% are underpaid and living paycheck to paycheck. That’s why
the sort-term goals that I listed are important to me because I want to fall in the 27% finishing
college. That to me is separating a graduated college student from a graduating young man. In
order for me to become a graduated young man I first of all need to finish college. For me to
finish college I need to work hard in my classes and study smarter to get passing grades on my
exams. Practice makes perfect. Once I finish school or about to finish I start sending my
perfected resume to the companies I would love to work for. Seeing that I have connections on
the both companies I have a higher probability of getting hired on. Like everyone else in this
world, I want to be giving orders, not taking orders. My last short-term goal is to a buy a house
in a close area where I am going to be working. Then eventually buy bigger homes to move in to
when time comes. In order for me to buy a nice spacious house I would need to learn how to
save money. That’s why this semester I am taking a financial class on saving money and other
personal finances a person will undergo throughout his or her lifetime. It shows a person how to
do the finances on a house and what note to sign. The class is a really good class and it is
showing me a lot of different financial point of views. In order for me to purchase a house, I
would need to start spending money smarter, instead of blowing money. These are the most
important short-term goals to me at this stage in my life. Once I accomplish these goals then I
will move on to more short-term goals to better myself as a person.

Connection:
My three areas of concentrations are Organizational Leadership (General Business),
Natural Resource Management, and Health Applied Science. With my General Business
concentration, I want to make a business later in life after I learn all that there is to learn in
down-hole production. This concentration is going to help me become a better businessman
when dealing with transactions and making better business decisions. It is also going to help me
see things from a business stand point instead of making decisions for a quick profit. I am going
to see decisions for the steady profit, not the short-term profit. It is also going to help me retire at
a much earlier age than what most people do. The best thing about this particular concentration is
that I am going to feel charge, like I am a somebody not just a someone. The Natural Resource
Management is mainly for the oilfield. I can become a land-man. A land-man is someone that
goes to particular land where oil has been located. The land-man has to finds out who owns the
land and the mineral rights to the land before the company can start drilling. My Health Applied
Science can get me a job as a safetyman. A safetyman deals with prevention. He’s or her job is to
find anything that can cause the crew harm. The main goal for the safetyman is try and prevent
accidents that can and might occur on the job site. Try to get everyone back home to his or her
loved ones each and every single day after work. All of my concentrations relate to my long-term
goal. Each concentration is going to help me reach where I want to be in my life. Each of my
concentrations serves a purpose in my life, and I know by working hard and being goal
orientated that I will reach my goals. Every concentration is crucial to my future success.
