In this session we answer the question "What Does It Means to be a Disciple of Jesus?". We did this by first looking at what the word "disciple" means and then looking at what Jesus, Peter and Paul had to say about being a disciple and then we finished by looking at Jesus' life to learn from His example. English with Romanian translation.

Seminar conducted at Manuel L. Quezon High School, Manila Philippines September 1, 2007. Presentation showing qualities of leaders and leadership styles.
Whether or not someone believes in God depends upon many things. In some cases, people are brought up in religious environments that are so oppressive, they are practically brainwashed into believing. In other cases, the opposite is the case, and people are raised believing that there is no God. Eventually, everyone will come to their own conclusions regarding the existence of God, even if they do not openly share their opinion for fear of being ridiculed, shunned, or worse. It may be safe to assume that more people believe in God than not, and here are some of the reasons that may compel them to do so.

Memorandum Of Association Constitution of Company.pptseri bangash
www.seribangash.com
A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:
Contents of Memorandum of Association:
Name Clause: This clause states the name of the company, which should end with words like "Limited" or "Ltd." for a public limited company and "Private Limited" or "Pvt. Ltd." for a private limited company.

Registered Office Clause: It specifies the location where the company's registered office is situated. This office is where all official communications and notices are sent.
Objective Clause: This clause delineates the main objectives for which the company is formed. It's important to define these objectives clearly, as the company cannot undertake activities beyond those mentioned in this clause.

Liability Clause: It outlines the extent of liability of the company's members. In the case of companies limited by shares, the liability of members is limited to the amount unpaid on their shares. For companies limited by guarantee, members' liability is limited to the amount they undertake to contribute if the company is wound up.

Capital Clause: This clause specifies the authorized capital of the company, i.e., the maximum amount of share capital the company is authorized to issue. It also mentions the division of this capital into shares and their respective nominal value.
Association Clause: It simply states that the subscribers wish to form a company and agree to become members of it, in accordance with the terms of the MOA.
Importance of Memorandum of Association:
Legal Requirement: The MOA is a legal requirement for the formation of a company. It must be filed with the Registrar of Companies during the incorporation process.
Constitutional Document: It serves as the company's constitutional document, defining its scope, powers, and limitations.
Protection of Members: It protects the interests of the company's members by clearly defining the objectives and limiting their liability.
External Communication: It provides clarity to external parties, such as investors, creditors, and regulatory authorities, regarding the company's objectives and powers.

Binding Authority: The company and its members are bound by the provisions of the MOA. Any action taken beyond its scope may be considered ultra vires (beyond the powers) of the company and therefore void.
Amendment of MOA:
While the MOA lays down the company's fundamental principles, it is not entirely immutable. It can be amended, but only under specific circumstances and in compliance with legal procedures. Amendments typically require shareholder

Introduction (5 mins)***(1)
- My remit/invitation for today: to facilitate discussion on Emerging Church, around question, is it paradigm shift or passing fad
- Some ground rule for discussion/suggestions to make it go better
- Best and Worst: gets done to Evangelicals, and same gets done to E/C
- Instead ask what is it at it’s best, so we can discern what God is doing
- Here-say: denounce people without ever having read or heard them!
- Can we try to speak and interact from what we know, not what we have heard?
- Me as resource: My connection: baptist, LBC, vineyard, 10 year plant, involved in E/C since 1998,Dmin, PhD, teach/write.blog, Emergent (not E?C etc) etc
- Limited experience but some primary connections I hope that help today
- So I am going for rest of our time to try to do two things:
a. offer overview/navigation of it, we might all have various things in mind, common location/vocab etc.
b. make some introductory critique
- So that we can them move into informed discussions/questions
***(2)II. What is the Emerging Church (15 mins)
- People inside the emerging church always asking, what is it, and disagree in every description that people come up with, as many would mine!
- People outside E/C produce infamous descriptions, that people in E/C do not recognise...because they are wrong, and because they don’t want to hear it...
- In that it’s a movement like all the ones we’re all involved in :-)
- There is a Conscious E/C: self identified by those in it and those against it
- And I want to suggest there is an Unconscious E/C: sometimes a paradigm shift occurs to those not aware of it, and those not in E/C might be part of it
- Also many associated with E/C although they wouldn’t say they were!
*** (3)History
- Lets start with brief history of the conscious E/C
a. UK: dominant stream of:
- NOS, to Dave Tomlinson, to Post Charismatic fallout from Toronto, with Alt Worship stream to Mission shaped Church report 2004 (Anglicans)
- This stream mostly charismatic anglican evangelicals
- Most published, books, internet, masters of new media
- This group often lays explicit claim to being progenitors of E/C, and often point out that they were into it long before the Americans!
- Many other streams: Emergent UK (not alt worship), Stuart Murray (anabaptist), Fresh Expressions (Anglican) etc
- Cross fertilize and connections each other
b. USA: Dominant Stream
- Often Reaction/Questioning to mega chuch by ex mega church leaders
- Reflects US church context, and politics in way not seen in UK
- Again evangelicals initiating this
- Often more about renewal of church, than post church
- Both US & UK, intersect with Gibbs and Bolger book: Emerginging Church (2005), 9 practices of emerging churches
- Then all the well known names, conscious and unconscious, Brian McLaren, Steve Chalke, Rob Bell, Jonny Baker, Andrew Jones, Erwin McMannus, Leonard Sweet etc..
- I’m less interested in mapping the self identified groups, and more interested in bigger picture of what kind of church is emerging in response to emerging culture/po-mo, and is it a fad or is God in it?
- Offer some tools I find helpful in my mapping.
*** (4)Message/Mediums & Market Place
- Want to suggest that at it’s best E/C is response to a shared problem of change in culture of modern to post-modern
- I’m not going to offer a description of post-modernity, post-Christendom, post-colonial, post secular contexts of the E/C...beyond today, but that background shapes the E/C
- it is a response to the emerging context, rapid change in culture in beliefs and practices
- How we understand that change affects the way we engage as churches.
- You can often work backwards from the forms of E/C to get to the understanding they have of the emerging culture
- At it’s best as shared response they might fall into these areas:
- Message:
a. Examination of the content of what we believe, in the light of our emerging cultural changes.
b. Gospel Reduction: prayers for heaven, or salvation include this life, politics, economics, the poor, environment for example
c. probably most controversial area
- Mediums: Then the ways we communicate what we believe, using media etc
a. Technology, internet, blogs, SMS..Christians have been at forefront of new media in history
- Market Place: And the places we inhabit and work out what we believe.
a. Myers: public, social, private, intimate etc
b. Connection between God, Church, World, move away from God in church...to far into God not in church...etc
- So many variations within these three, how can we map them?
*** (5) Sociology & Theology
- Explain grid, limits, not offering boundaries, just broad map
- Back to what I said earlier, the post-church radicals would see most of the groups in this mapping as outside the E/C...but my map is broader...
- Doesn’t work this neatly in real life, but a starter...
- Show grid of axis, of theological engagement and sociological
- A: Same message but doing church in radical new space and with new mediums, Forge in Australia, Shaping, Hirsh Frost etc. Post Church, aesthetics
- B: radical theology and sociology: form and content, Spencer Burke, Heretics Guide to eternity, post church, and post theology, aesthetics, and beliefs, and locations
- C: some theological reflection, some changes in styles of church/places: large unconscious group in here of E/C, E/C renewal groups
- D: lots of theological reflection, less radical sociology, and less post church (Me/Emergent)
- So when I meet a group, are they engaging cultural, aesthetics, spaces, or message or mixture
- think of people groups, streams etc, and see if you can map them?
***(7)Some Concerns I Have: the potential for a fad
Sociological reactions:
- Know our culture well, after knowing it badly! but lack ability to form church around bible, church history, and theological reflections
- Anger and resentment towards church, devaluing of existing churches
- If church was mistake from 4th century until reformation, it’s all been a mistake!
- Church is the problem, collapse of any understanding of church, the world is where God is
Axiomatics:
- If we only got rid of congregations, pastors, preaching/teaching…and all just hung out in authentic community, all would be well,
- with the result that a handful of people hang out in private spaces just as self indulgent as the ones they left, yet they are more valid as they now have the label of being postmodern and authentic.
- Most authentic thing to do is de-convert, lost faith, stop giving, leave church...
- Genetic dead end
3. Exclusion:
- Can become as exclusive as previous forms of church.
- You can’t be missional if you have a congregation,
- you can’t be relevant if you are an Anglican, Baptist, Vineyard etc.
- Jesus would never go to your church (but he would love our middle class blog discussion night, cigars, beer, art aesthetic therapy zones and having a good moan about the church) groups.
- Swap the cultural neutering of church withdrawn from culture for one too deep into it
Crises of Knowing and Being:
- collapse from structure to agency...
- church is now made in my image, I hate structure, I hate leaders, I hate most things about church and I cover it all with the spirtitualised veneer (nonsense) of saying, well I want to be organic, spirit led, postmodern & missional
- Saying you are missional, does not make you missional: malaise of idealism of western culture
- Love to idealise church, talk about it, then think we’d done something!
- Or we just do and never think!
- Rejection of wisdom from experiences of organising, doing, and leading..result things that don;t grow, or die
- All movements need institutionalizing
- Crises in knowing, truth...gone from too much (foundationlism control of truth), to there is no truth (that’s the truth)
***(8)Some Hopes I Have: of a paradigm shift, at it’s best
1. Gospel Power:
- There is something sizemic, as the Spirit incarnates the gospel to a new emerging culture, and it’s powerful, no wonder it can’t be mapped or owned by one group!
- Gospel as mission
- Holistic Gospel: Jesus, church, and mission: poor, environment, souls, bodies etc
- Human: instead of dehuminsing
Generous/Deep:
- realize that there is no correct postmodern way of doing churches, there are many ways, and we need many more, some like they currently are and some radically different, many valid and connecting in different context.
- we need old, new and even newer...
- Retrieving things lost...church calendar etc example
- Deep = preserving, renewing, fresh expressions, & ephemeral plants
- Not shallow ecumenicalism, but a deep, vibrant one!
- A love of the church
- That would be a movement that would impact our world
Body:
- empowering: from downtrodden pastor at one end to CEO gengis kahn at the other.
- Exciting collaborative, team empowered, gifting released ministry
- How often do you hear, ‘what’s the point of church?’
- yet it’s a consumer malaise, but is the spirit of God waiting for us to explore some good answers about the body of Jesus, and why the church is needed more than ever?!
***(9)IV: Conclusion
- Post-Church/Anti Church: pathological genetic dead end and aesthetic fad, but much that the larger church will absorb...as it always has
- At the other end, the Counter reformation: and even the most anti E/C groups, have a counter reformation taking place...groups all over the place talking mission/kingdom/holism, in way they never would have.
- Renewal: Established churches, won’t throw the baby out with the bathwater, and will vary between being faithful until they close, and moving enough to renew and grow.
- New forms: new forms of church will emerge and flourish...
- challenge for E/C is will it foster the things that might lead to this, and will the existing church nuture things different to itself, and find the Spirit of Jesus in a body that is much larger and broader than we had imagined.
- That would be a paradigm change for the E/C
- Or else it will end up as a fad, and footnote in history?
- Both/And..time will tell...What do you think?
