The North East Science Cluster partnership developed schools (PDS) to increase the quantity and quality of science teacher training placements in the region. PDS2 piloted paired placements across five schools, held a conference to evaluate the program, and produced a pamphlet promoting the benefits. This increased the number of schools offering paired placements. PDS3 provided enhanced mentor training across the region through another conference and guidance materials, improving the quality of placements. The partnerships positively impacted training for both mentors and trainees while strengthening relationships between schools and Durham University.
