Jesus tells his disciples that he will be betrayed, condemned to death, mocked, flogged, and killed, but will rise again three days later. James and John ask if they can sit at Jesus' right and left in glory, but Jesus says those places are not for him to grant. When the other disciples hear this, they become indignant with James and John. Jesus teaches his disciples that the greatest among them must be a servant and slave to all. He came not to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many.
