32 They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were
astonished, while those who followed were afraid. Again He took the Twelve aside and told
them what was going to happen to Him.
33 “We are going up to Jerusalem,” He said, “and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the
chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn Him to death and will hand Him
over to the Gentiles,
34 who will mock Him and spit on Him, flog Him and kill him. Three days later he will rise.”
35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want
you to do for us whatever we ask.”
36 “What do you want me to do for you?” He asked.
37 They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.”
38 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup I drink or be
baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”
39 “We can,” they answered.
Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am
baptized with,
40 but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom
they have been prepared.”
41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John.
42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of
the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your
servant,
44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a
ransom for many.”
Our God is a serving God
God loves you and offers a wonderful
plan for your life.
For God so loved the world that he gave his
one and only Son, that whoever believes in
him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
Man is sinful and separated from
God. Therefore, he cannot know and
experience God's love and plan for his
life.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God,” (Romans 3:23)
Jesus Christ is God's only provision for
man's sin. Through Him you can know
and experience God's love and plan
for your life.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in
this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for
us. (Romans 5:8)

From heaven you
came helpless
Babe
Entered our
world, your glory
veiled
Not to be served
but to serve
And give Your life
that we might
live
This is our God, The Servant King
He calls us now to follow Him
To bring our lives as a daily offering
Of worship to The Servant King
There in the garden of tears
My heavy load he chose to bear
His heart with sorrow was torn
'Yet not My will but Yours,' He said
This is our God, The Servant King
He calls us now to follow Him
To bring our lives as a daily offering
Of worship to The Servant King
Come see His hands and
His feet
The scars that speak of
sacrifice
Hands that flung stars
into space
To cruel nails
surrendered
This is our God,
The Servant King
He calls us now to
follow Him
To bring our lives
as a daily offering
Of worship to The
Servant King
So let us learn how to serve
And in our lives enthrone Him
Each other's needs to prefer
For it is Christ we're serving
This is our God, The Servant King
He calls us now to follow Him
To bring our lives as a daily offering
Of worship to The Servant King
This is our God, The Servant King
He calls us now to follow Him
To bring our lives as a daily offering

Editor's Notes

  • #2  What does it mean to serve?
  • #3  It means: [screen]
  • #6  What does the Bible say about serving?
  • #7  The Gospel of Mark has a record of Lord Jesus, in His conversation with two of His disciples.
  • #8  Jesus and His followers were on the way to Jerusalem but many were afraid. So Jesus took the 12 disciples to one side to explain what was about to happen.
  • #9  ‘We are going to Jerusalem,’ Jesus said. ‘I will be betrayed to the leading priests and teachers of the law who will say that I must die. They will hand me over to the Gentiles to mock, spit, mistreat and kill me. But on the third day after my death, I will rise to life again.’
  • #10  to mock, spit, mistreat and kill me. But on the third day after my death, I will rise to life again.’
  • #11  The disciples listened but did not grasp what Jesus was saying.
  • #12  James and John came to Jesus. ‘Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask,’
  • #13  James and John came to Jesus. ‘Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask,’ they insisted. ‘What do you want Me to do for you?’ Jesus asked.
  • #14  ‘You will have glory in your kingdom,’ they said. ‘Let one of us sit at your right, and the other at your left, in the places of greatest honor Here John and James had a very wrong of understanding about Jesus, they thought Jesus would rise as a physical worldly king. The problem is, in those days, Israel was annexed by Roman Empire (CE 6–135)
  • #15  They thought Jesus was about to lead a physical revolution
  • #16  As you can see in this list. You might feel familiar with this name Pontius Pilate. Jesus was sentenced with death penalty during his governorship in Roman Judea.
  • #17  ‘You don’t know what you are asking!’ Jesus replied. ‘Are you able to drink from the bitter cup of suffering I am about to drink? Are you able to be baptized with the baptism of suffering?’
  • #18  ‘Yes we are,’ they insisted. ‘Then you will indeed drink from my bitter cup and be baptized with my baptism of suffering, Jesus told them.
  • #19 ‘But I have no right to say who will sit on my right or my left. God has prepared those places for the ones He has chosen.’
  • #20 When the ten other disciples heard what James and John had asked, they were furious.
  • #21 So Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them.
  • #22 ‘But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant and whoever wants to be first among you must be last.
  • #23 ‘But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant and whoever wants to be first among you must be last.
  • #24 ‘For I didn’t come to be served but to serve others and to give My life as a ransom for many.’ Why did Jesus call himself Son of Man? It Is A Messianic Designation The title "Son of Man" was a designation for the Messiah. The Book of Daniel predicted that the Son of Man would inherit God's everlasting kingdom. (Daniel 7:13,14). It seems by using the title "Son of Man" Jesus wanted to convey the truth that He was entirely human. He didn’t cheat. He didn’t use His Godness to reduce how much it hurt when he was hung on that wood naked after beaten or whipped all night long
  • #25 Our God is a Serving God Jesus Washing Peter’s Feet English painter 1852-6 Gospel of John 13:1-17 MORE THAN THAT
  • #26 Why is it that most people are not experiencing that abundant life?
  • #28 Consider a glass of fresh water, would you drink it?
  • #29 But what if before you drink it, a mouse peed on it Only 1 drop The same works with us humans in our relationship with God. Where does our soul go when we die
  • #30 Nobody wants to go to hell. There we could find only sorrow, loneliness, fear, inconvenience and many other things that you would not be comfortable with The Bible says it’s a LAKE OF FIRE, nobody wants to go there That’s how our life without God. No matter how far we could go, we would find no purpose.
  • #31 We all need God. Only in Him can we find purpose of life. Peace of mind. Only in Him our soul can find rest! Because He is our Creator. He knows the best of what our souls need. When humanity is away from the Lord. Guess what happen.
  • #32 terror
  • #33 CRIMES
  • #34 MURDERS
  • #35 RAPES
  • #36 WARS ET CETRA ET CETRA YOU NAME IT NOW WE COULD ALSO BE QUESTIONING, WHY EVEN SOME RELIGIOUS LEADERS DO BAD THINGS? BECAUSE PRACTICING RELIGIONS DOESN’T EQUAL HAVING A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
  • #37 This diagram illustrates that God is holy and man is sinful. A great gulf separates the two. The arrows illustrate that man is continually trying to reach God and the abundant life through his own efforts, such as a good life, philosophy, or religion -but he inevitably fails.
  • #39 Why should Christ die for us? How could Jesus' blood wash away our sins? To understand this, we need to know how God's system of the sacrifice works. The books of Exodus and Leviticus in the Bible extensively talk about sacrificing livestock, such as cattle and sheep, to cleanse the people of their sins so God could forgive them. Animals used in the sacrifice must be without any defects, and priests must perform specific steps during the sacrifice, including pouring out their blood upon the altar for atonement (reparation for a wrong or injury) Why is the pouring out of blood necessary? What is important about blood? Jehovah answered this question in the Bible: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh atonement by reason of the life." (Leviticus 17:11) Blood is the life, so when you pour out the life of a perfect sacrifice, you cleanse your own life.
  • #40 Hence, in order to wash away the sins of a great multitude, God chose His Son, who is absolutely flawless; no other man who has ever lived could be perfect enough for the job. Ultimately, the life--Jesus' blood--was poured out as a ransom to redeem our own blood.
  • #41 Should a Mighty God come down to earth to save as dirty humans? He has all the rights to say no. God is love, God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Jesus made it clear Jesus is the reason I believe that God doesn’t love us only with words, but also with action.
