Maintaining
Regular inspections help us to recognize conditions which
require maintenance or repairs at an early stage. Our
services, such as non-destructive examination techniques,
are developed to provide quick analysis and intelligent
decision making that can help cut your costs significantly.
Repairing
Changing and repairing components is a routine job.
Our goal is to help you prevent operating issues from
becoming outages. We are supported by remote diagnostic
systems – and by our experience. Our efforts are focused
on keeping your plant online or putting it back into opera-
tion as quickly as possible.
Modernizing
There are various ways of maximizing plant efficiency.
For instance, it may be possible to increase output
without using more fuel, or to turn an older-type plant
into a modern one. Our modernization solutions
are known for their effectiveness in terms of business
success and environmental impact.
Extending lifetime
Our metallurgical, integrity, and fracture mechanics analy-
ses can reveal the real state of your plant, and the results
can lead to lifetime extension measures – important assets
in the deregulated electricity market.

thousands of successful projects enables us to plan each
implementation step accurately – and we never leave until
everything is up and running properly.
Training and consulting
Our range of training programs support your plant’s full
life cycle. They include on-the-job training, classroom-
based training, and in-plant training on our simulators or
at our training facilities under realistic conditions.

operational, financial and environmental needs. That’s
why we at Siemens Energy Service encourage you to
share your values, aims and individual requirements with
us – so we can understand what makes your plant differ-
ent. This gives us access to unique insights, enabling us
to identify hidden potential and enhance both short- and
long-term performance.
An added benefit of building close working relationships
is that you are assigned a dedicated service team to work
directly with you. This gives you a single point of contact,
whether you need to reach a replacement parts profes-

Improving your plant‘s performance does not have to be
costly or time consuming. Just a small change can make a
huge difference: the key is choosing the right one. We at
Siemens are committed to finding cost-effective and effi-
cient ways to help improve your processes, maximize your
output and lower your environmental impact.
We plan and undertake extensive plant inspections and
operational analysis to identify optimization potential.
Our performance enhancement programs include intro-
ducing low maintenance components, upgrading hard-
ware, optimizing workflows, and modernizing computer
interfaces. In addition, finding ways to reduce emissions
and improve performance is one of our main service
priorities.
Effective and accurate maintenance planning is also cru-
cial to getting the most out of a plant. Our in-depth
knowledge of your equipment allows us to anticipate
repair works and plan timely intervention, reducing
unnecessary downtime. We can also closely monitor
equipment and machinery, so we can identify the best
time to upgrade them to meet changing market develop-
ments. By simply planning ahead, we can help an aging
plant approach the competitive performance of a
new one.
Turning good into better
Performance enhancement
In a performance-based market structure, where plants are managed
as profit centers, it is necessary to strategically improve efficiency,
optimize capacity, minimize costs and maintain high reliability in
order to be competitive.

One of our major service goals is to keep your downtime
and related loss of productivity to a minimum. Rather
than wait for complications to occur – from the smallest
defects to potential worst-case shut down scenarios – we
can act preemptively to help prevent them from happen-
ing. Once our advanced remote monitoring and diagnostic
services have identified the issue, our team of specialists
is able to plan with you and advise on necessary action
before the need arises.
Some repairs and service work are unavoidable. But, we
have the processes and expertise to ensure that necessary
repairs do not slow you down. Working closely with you,
we anticipate potential maintenance requirements and
plan time- and cost-effective ways to implement them.
Whether the issue is replacing a defective valve, unblock-
ing a pipe or overhauling a turbine, you can rely on us for
fast, effective and comprehensive maintenance that won’t
reduce your productivity.
Waiting for replacement parts can also cause unnecessary
delays. Our comprehensive replacement parts service
keeps your stock levels up, guaranteeing fast delivery
while eliminating the need to tie up capital in in-house
storage. We will even assign a parts professional to help
track your parts and oversee the process. It‘s all about
having a service provider who can get the right part to
the right place at the right time.
Identifying faults
before they become failures
Corrective and preventive maintenance
Siemens Energy Service assembles a regional team of experts that
works directly with you to determine your needs. By utilizing
advanced project management, supervisory and scheduling tech-
niques to coordinate all required activities, we are able to oversee the
successful completion of turbine-generator maintenance projects.

Siemens understands that knowledge is one of the most
important tools in the industry – one that can give you a
clear competitive advantage. Well-trained staff who can
face any challenge are vital for operating your plant effi-
ciently and productively.
That‘s why the Siemens Power Academy offers a wide
range of customized training programs for plant manage-
ment, operation and maintenance. Training is available
onsite, online or at our state-of-the-art training facilities
which include real-life simulators. Our wide range of train-
ing courses caters to every stage in a plant‘s lifecycle,
covering in-depth and essential equipment and systems
knowledge, preventing and carrying out repairs, as well as
health and safety issues.
We also offer a comprehensive range of tailor-made con-
sulting services, such as advice on building new plants,
extending your plant‘s lifecycle, operating cost-effectively,
meeting safety and environmental requirements and
much more. Siemens is the partner to consult if you want
to take your plant forward.

Background
Tiszai Vegyi Kombinát Nyrt. is one of the
leading chemical companies in Central-
Europe. The basis of the Tiszaújváros power
plant is a combined cycle unit consisting of
a gas turbine, a heat recovery boiler with
supplementary firing connected to it and a
condensing extraction steam turbine with a
design capacity of 33.4 MWe. It is operated
by Sinergy Ltd (on behalf of TVK-Erőmű
Kft.). TVK was looking for a reliable and
flexible partner with the engineering solu-
tions to meet their requirements.
Scope
Siemens Energy was awarded a contract for
the full EPC delivery including the outdoor
installation. A Preventive Maintenance Long
Term Program for both the Gas and Steam
Turbines has been in place since commis-
sioning of the installation.
Result
Siemens dedication results in optimum
performance and availability of TVK’s
installation.

Compressor
LP compressor footprint STC-SV
Background
Pressure in the Shearwater reservoir
(located in the central north sea block
22/30B some 138 miles east of Aberdeen,
UK) dropped due to depletion, so the plat-
form required major modifications. The pur-
pose of the LP compression project was to
enable a reduction in the first-stage suction
pressure to increase the production rate of
the overall hydrocarbon recovery from the
Shearwater reservoir. The key challenge
was to execute this project safely, in time
and with the given budget.
Scope
Retrofit and modify existing plant,
exchange compressor by footprint solution
and control system modifications for the
compressor. The scope of supply also
included a new gearbox and improvements
on the piping of the seal-gas system, allow-
ing better access to the machines.
Result
The project met all safety, schedule and
budget targets. The customer Shell was
exceptionally pleased.
