1. The document discusses how Jesus suffered defamation of his character, as his enemies falsely accused and slandered him. They hung him between two thieves, associating him with criminals.
2. It encourages Christians to expect to experience similar suffering, as Jesus redeems believers by becoming cursed on the cross so they may become righteous.
3. When suffering defamation, Christians should not retaliate or abuse others, but instead follow Jesus' example of not reviling while suffering and commit themselves to God in prayer.

“What Shall I Do That I May Inherit Eternal Life?”
NT Gospel Doctrine Lesson 17: Mark 10, 12, Luke 12, 14, 16
Lesson Purpose: Help class understand that we must be willing to sacrifice things of this world to obtain a place in the kingdom of heaven.
Caesar Augustus decreed a census that required Joseph to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem to register. While in Bethlehem, Mary gave birth to Jesus and placed him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn. Shepherds in the fields were visited by an angel announcing Jesus' birth. They found Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus lying in the manger as the angel had described. The shepherds then spread the word about what they had witnessed.
The document summarizes several passages from Luke 15 that recount the parable of the prodigal son. In the parable, a younger son asks his father for his inheritance and leaves home, squandering his wealth. He ends up impoverished and returns home in repentance. His father welcomes him back with open arms, demonstrating forgiveness and grace. The summary emphasizes that the father's reaction to his son was intentional and loving, showing grace by accepting him back without punishment, and that God invites us to respond to His love and forgiveness in the same way.
The document discusses God's missionary nature and purpose from the beginning of scripture to seek out all people and bring them salvation. It references passages where God comes searching for Adam and Eve after the fall, calls Abram to bless all nations, and the end of Revelation where a vast multitude from every nation will be before God's throne. True worship of God is described as being in spirit and in truth. The question is posed of what an individual would risk and sacrifice to make a difference in the world as people are willing to die for causes they deem truly important.
This message is Part 4 of the series “Above & Beyond” by Pastor Chuck Bernal. The title for this message is “Going Above & Beyond To Honor The Lord”. This message challenges us to live our lives to honor God and make Him famous everyday in three tangible ways: by serving, by giving and by loving. The document discusses Paul's message to the Corinthians about generosity. It summarizes that Paul praised the Corinthians for their faith, wisdom, and love, but encouraged them to also excel in generosity as the Macedonians had. Paul cites that through Christ's generosity in becoming poor to make humanity rich, Christians should be moved to generosity that shares in others' blessings through participating in relief efforts.

“Many are invited, but few are chosen” is unfortunately one of the most misread, misunderstood and misused phrases in the Bible. Then again, so is the parable of the Wedding Banquet where the King acts with anger and vengeance on those who refuse his invitation to come to the wedding.
So what is the meaning hidden within this parable and how can we really look at what seems to be a line of exclusion at the end of the Gospel? Check it all out…
The document discusses Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. It notes that Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, fulfilling a prophecy from Zechariah. Jesus was anointed by Mary six days before Passover, which was the day before Palm Sunday. The people greeted Jesus with palm branches and shouts of "Hosanna," hailing him as their king. Jesus' entry into Jerusalem was a humble arrival of a spiritual king of peace, as reported by his disciple John.

This document provides guidance on sharing your faith story with others. It encourages developing friendships by taking interest in others and being teachable. It also suggests discovering your own style of sharing, whether through confrontation, intellect, invitation, serving or building relationships. The document advises finding stories that avoid long-windedness and superiority, and instead focus on how faith brought positive change from a past "before" situation to a new "after".
This document provides commentary on the lyrics of the hymn "Amazing Grace". It discusses how each verse describes God's amazing grace - how it saves us, teaches us, relieves our fears, and will lead us safely home. God's promises and word give us hope. In heaven we will sing God's praises for eternity, as we will have been saved by God's grace.

This document contains a prayer, scripture passages from the books of John and 1 John, and commentary discussing the key themes of love and obedience. It discusses how Jesus calls his followers friends rather than servants, and how we can know we are his friends by keeping his commandment to love one another. It emphasizes that belief in Jesus and obedience to his commands of love for God and others are inseparable, and that God's commandments to love are not burdensome but lead to victory over the world.
This document appears to be a series of slides from a class discussing the importance of interpreting scripture and honoring God's word. It touches on several key points:
1) The need to honor God and his word when interpreting scripture.
2) The importance of maintaining unity within the local church community.
3) Providing historical context around the Restoration Movement's interpretative methods.
4) Identifying the prevailing interpretation methods typically used within Churches of Christ.
5) Offering tools to aid in properly interpreting scripture going forward.
The document aims to educate the class on scriptural interpretation and its role in the church.
This document discusses the importance and power of the Book of Psalms. It argues that the Psalms were intended as a "new Torah" to teach God's people lifelong prayer and obedience. However, in many Christian circles today the Psalms are underused or reduced to short passages. The document urges readers to rediscover the Psalms to find guidance through every human experience and emotion, as a way to openly worship God through prayer and song. It presents the Psalms as offering a way to join in praise that has endured for millennia and given comfort to people across cultures.
The Parable of the Great Banquet tells the story of a man who planned a large banquet but the invited guests made excuses for not attending. He told his servants to invite the poor, crippled, blind, and lame instead. The master represents God and the banquet is heaven. The original guests were the Jewish people who rejected Jesus' message. The parable illustrates that God extended salvation to the Gentiles and all who come to Christ by faith will have a place in heaven, regardless of status.
This prayer asks God to provide care and mercy for all of creation, as God provided a sign of love through Jesus Christ. It offers prayers for God's world, confident in God's care and mercy, just as Joseph believed the message of an angel. It closes with "Amen."
The document discusses biblical literalism and hermeneutics. It defines biblical literalism as interpreting the Bible as literally as possible and inerrancy as the view that the original manuscripts are without error. However, it notes that everyone has an interpretive lens and there is no truly uninterpreted reading. It advocates adopting a "cruciform hermeneutic" that reads Scripture through the lens of Christ crucified and emphasizes an interpretation guided by love of God and neighbor. Personal experience with different interpretations on issues is noted to impact one's hermeneutic. In the end, it asks how the reader has been impacted by biblical literalism and what their own interpretive lens may be.

The document discusses the birth of Jesus Christ and the meaning of Christmas. It explains that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the Virgin Mary as prophesied. Though fully God, Jesus also experienced life as a human by being born in a manger and living humbly on earth. The primary reasons for God taking human form as Jesus were to reveal himself to humanity and to pay the price for human sin through his sacrificial death. The conclusion encourages remembering the true meaning of Christmas by coming back to the heart of Christmas, which is Jesus.
This document contains a prayer, passages from the Bible, and reflections on cultivating a culture of generosity. It discusses considering percentages and dollars in giving, planned and spontaneous giving, mercy and justice, using resources to strengthen relationships, and generosity as worship that looks to the present and future. Quotes encourage regular planned giving proportionate to income to support church life and ministry, and living generously as it reflects God's design and nature. It concludes with a prayer asking God to move people to generous giving as they have received.

This document provides a summary of Jesus' final days as recounted in the Gospel of Mark chapters 14-16. It discusses how the religious leaders plotted to kill Jesus, the anointing of Jesus by Mary, Judas' betrayal of Jesus to the chief priests, and Jesus' final teachings leading up to his crucifixion and resurrection on Easter Sunday. The document guides readers through these final chapters in Mark's gospel over the course of several weekly lessons.

Jesus' birth is celebrated at Christmas, though many miss its true meaning. While Christmas brings joy, wonder, and time off for some, it causes loneliness in others. Beyond the fake elements like elves and snow, Christians have a greater reason for genuine thankfulness - the birth of Jesus. Though often pictured as an infant, this doesn't reveal the full story. Jesus, being God, became man through a humble birth to bring salvation to humanity, not to establish a religion. He came on a mission from God as God himself to save people.
God calls Christians to a "backward wisdom" of generosity and self-giving rather than self-saving. The document discusses how pursuing material wealth and possessions leads to unhappiness, but giving generously to others in obedience to God's commands results in blessing. It encourages readers to follow Christ's example of humble service and to store up treasure in heaven through good deeds rather than wealth on earth.
God owns everything and entrusts resources to us to manage. Money itself is neutral, but can become "Mammon" or an idol if we worship it over God. The Bible teaches that we should be good stewards of wealth and use it to help others rather than for selfish wants. While some see the Bible as condemning wealth, it also talks of wealthy men of God and promises blessings for those who obey God. We cannot serve both God and money, so we must put God first with our resources.

It provides several "keys" or principles: 1) God owns everything and we are merely stewards of what he provides. 2) Where we put our money reveals where our heart is and determines where it will go. 3) Heaven, not earth, is our true home. 4) We should live not just for short-term pleasures but with an eye to eternal rewards. 5) Giving is the only remedy for materialism and selfish desires. 6) God blesses our generosity not to raise our standard of living but to increase our standard of giving.

The document discusses Christian giving and generosity. It notes that the average American Christian gives only 2.6% of their income annually, far less than what is biblically prescribed. It encourages readers to view themselves as stewards of God's resources and give generously, as their heart will follow their treasure. When Christians store up wealth in heaven through giving, they gain blessings and prosperity both in this life and the next.

[1] The document discusses teachings from The New Revelation about poverty and suffering. It provides passages that offer comfort and guidance to the poor, encouraging them to turn to God for help rather than begging.
[2] One passage is a parable told by Jesus about a rich landowner whose children attended school away from home and sometimes suffered need, with some people showing them love and others not. The landowner rewarded those who helped his children.
[3] Another passage notes that while poverty causes difficulties, it can foster humility and modesty, but should not be allowed to spread too much as it could lead people to theft or harm others. The poor should first turn to others, and if refused,
God gives us good things in abundance, culminating in giving His Son Jesus. He wants us to draw on His wisdom and be generous with His provisions.
As students learn mathematical techniques such as compound interest and develop a financial understanding: it is our prayer that they will learn to make wise choices with their money. We pray that they would rise up with their generation to become a powerful influence in their communities and help establish fair, generous, and just financial systems.
The document discusses biblical principles regarding money and finances. It teaches that everything belongs to God, we should work to earn money but avoid debt, save for the future, and be generous. It emphasizes trusting in God rather than money and warns against the love of money. Key verses encourage being content with food and clothing, giving freely, and recognizing God as the ultimate provider of all things.
The document discusses the importance of how Christians handle money and give generously. It emphasizes that pastors must lead by example in their own giving and challenge their congregations to give beyond just tithing. When church leaders and members excel in generous giving out of gratitude for God's grace, it can transform the church's impact and bring joy.

This document discusses biblical principles of financial management. It encourages developing a business plan, budget, and investment strategy. The goal is to eliminate debt, save money, and become financially independent through sacrifice, discipline and faithfully managing God's resources. Quotes from Proverbs, Matthew and other books emphasize the importance of having a God-driven vision and not being bound to money or living beyond one's means. The overall message is that God has given each person a business to manage and wants them to do so wisely for His glory.
The document discusses Jesus' teachings about the dangers of wealth and materialism, citing stories of the rich young ruler and the rich fool to illustrate how money can become an idol that distracts from God. It also provides characteristics of millionaires, noting that true wealth is created through spending less than one earns and investing the difference over the long run rather than pursuing quick riches.

The document discusses several key points around Christian giving:
1. American Christians give a small percentage of their income to the church compared to what is biblically recommended. Increased giving could provide $140 billion more per year for God's work.
2. Where one puts their money shows where their heart is. Christians should give generously to heaven by prioritizing the kingdom of God over earthly possessions.
3. A negative view of heaven, often from misconceptions, prevents many Christians from looking forward to the new earth and hinders their walk with God. They should view heaven as the fulfillment of God's promises.

Less than 10% of Christians give 10% or more of their income as commanded in the Old Testament. The document argues Christians should view themselves as stewards of God's resources and store up treasure in heaven through generous giving that puts their heart in the right place and sees the new earth, not this world, as their true home.

The document discusses Christian giving in America. It notes that American Christians control much of the world's Christian wealth but give very little, with the average Christian giving far less than 10% of their income. Younger Christians give even less proportionally. It argues that Christians have misplaced priorities in how they spend their money and that their lack of generous giving hurts the church, missions, and their own spiritual growth. It encourages Christians to view themselves as stewards of God's resources and give more generously to store up treasure in heaven.

Jesus appeared to his disciples after his resurrection. They did not initially recognize him. He showed them his hands and feet with the nail wounds to prove it was really him in the flesh. He ate broiled fish to further convince them. He opened their minds to understand how the Old Testament prophecies foretold his suffering and resurrection. He led them to Bethany, blessed them, and then ascended to heaven. The disciples became witnesses of Jesus' resurrection and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
Sermon Slide Deck: "On the Road to Seeing Jesus" (Luke 24:13-35)New City Church

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.
Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.
