While ecotourism in Alaska includes expanding preserves and activities like hiking and fishing, too much tourism can cause problems like pollution, loss of culture, climate change, and loss of wildlife.

Keep Anderson County Beautiful held several cleanup and beautification events in the spring of 2012, including the Great American Cleanup in March and Earth Day in April. Students in Newton, Iowa worked to change the name of a local creek from "Sewer Creek" to "Cardinal Creek" as a community project. Their AP biology class studied the creek and worked to raise awareness of its importance. They conducted polls, wrote letters, and gave presentations to change the creek's name through official channels. Adopting the school mascot "Cardinal" as the new name has given the creek visibility and transformed it into a source of pride for the town. Future classes will continue environmental studies of the creek and develop restoration plans.
McGolrick Park Neighborhood Alliance Thanks Area Elected/Public Officials for...
The McGolrick Park Neighborhood Alliance will hold a celebration on October 18th to thank local officials who secured $1.3 million to renovate the playground at McGolrick Park in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Borough President Eric Adams committed $500,000 and Council Member Stephen Levin contributed $800,000 through participatory budgeting and other funds. After the ceremony, attendees will plant 1,000 daffodil bulbs as part of an annual park cleanup event. The renovated playground is expected to begin construction in 2016 and will address safety issues and improve the 125-year-old park for the community.

Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
