The Mystic Krewe of Nyx is a Mardi Gras Krewe made up of women from diverse backgrounds. Each October, they volunteer with Rebuilding Together New Orleans to complete home repairs for low-income homeowners who cannot afford repairs. This year, 15 Krewe of Nyx sisters spent two days repairing Ms. Darlene's home, a recently widowed single mother, by painting, repairing siding, weatherizing windows, and landscaping. The repairs have made Ms. Darlene's home brighter, safer, and more energy efficient. The Krewe of Nyx enjoys volunteering and sees how their work can change lives, and they hope future funding will help serve more homeowners in need.
Loaves & Fishes Campaign Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Sioux Falls, South DakotaBecky Blue
This presentation describes the 2015 Loaves & Fishes Campaign at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This document is a 580-word article written by Kelly Roger Lemieux on January 12, 2012 about his experience with homelessness. Over a two year period starting in 2009, the author spent time in jail and mental health facilities, which led to the loss of his home and income. After exhausting options staying with family and in low-cost hotels, he became homeless in August 2011. He describes his initial experiences using homeless shelters like the Denver Rescue Mission and Saint Francis Day Center for food and shelter. By October 2011, his old condo became available again at a subsidized rent of $200 per month, allowing him to have housing once more.
Darrel Davis, from Foundation Ministries, plans to spend a weekend living on the streets with the homeless in Raleigh, North Carolina. He will take only a backpack, sleeping bag, and the clothes on his back to experience what homeless people experience. His goals are to experience homelessness, share the gospel with as many homeless people as possible, and make this an opportunity for others to understand homelessness and reach out with the good news. He asks for prayers as he carries out this project to ensure it is God's calling and to find one other person to join him.
This document contains a quiz about homelessness in Austin, with questions and answers about statistics related to the homeless population such as income levels, health issues, costs incurred, and potential solutions. It finds that a large percentage of the homeless population suffers from poor physical and mental health due to lack of access to healthcare and unsafe living conditions. Providing permanent supportive housing is presented as the most effective solution to improve conditions for the homeless as well as reduce public costs for emergency services. It encourages readers to volunteer or donate to organizations that offer housing, food, and other services to the homeless population in Austin.
Greg Gibson has over 30 years of experience working in health and human services, including case management, direct care, and program management. This document contains a collection of fictional letters from various healthcare IT vendor CIOs to Santa Claus requesting gifts. The "letters" make jokes and puns about the vendors' products and experiences working with them. They request things like help with billing issues, user adoption challenges, integration problems between products, and newer versions of aging systems. The overall tone is lighthearted and poking fun at some of the challenges that can come with large healthcare IT implementations and vendor relationships.

In today's society, a secure income - a job for life - may no longer be available from conventional employment. If you have suffered redundancy, and particularly if you are over 40, you may know how difficult this can be. Most people will admit to being dissatisfied with their level of income, especially in relation to the free time they enjoy.
The current trend of working from home, part-time working and job-sharing is an indication of how many people wish to escape the "employment trap".

The First Night celebration in downtown Raleigh draws large crowds each year who come to ring in the new year. In 2011, 9 people shared nearly 4,000 gospel tracts with attendees between 7-11 PM, taking advantage of the opportunity provided by such a large crowd. One conversation with some teens was cut short when their father made them leave. The outreach was considered a success overall. The document describes an encounter at a horseshoe ministry booth at the Kansas State Fair where a volunteer named Darrel Davis shares the gospel with a family - a mother, father, and 21-year-old son named Daniel. While the mother and father indicate they are already Christians, Daniel is unsure if he has truly committed his life to Christ. Davis is prompted by the Holy Spirit to focus on Daniel, and through using an evangelism tool called an Evangecube, Daniel decides to surrender his life to Christ at the booth. Davis sees this as an important reminder to never assume someone's salvation and to continue asking questions.

Darrel emphasizes the importance of equipping others in evangelism to multiply ministry efforts and continue spreading the gospel message.
This document discusses the importance and power of praying for lost or unsaved people by name. It encourages making a list of specific people who don't know Christ and praying for them daily. Some key things to pray for include that God would remove any false sense of security, bring conviction of sin, open their hearts and minds to the gospel, and send believers to witness to them. The document also provides the acronym "SHAPES" to guide prayers and ensure believers are properly prepared to pray effectively for the lost.
The author will be traveling from May 10-30th to participate in ministry opportunities in Tulsa, OK, Wichita, KS, Abilene, TX, and the Dallas/Fort Worth area. They will drive approximately 3,700 miles to do street evangelism, speak in local churches, mentor members in evangelism, and meet with ministry partners. They need to raise $2,751 to cover fuel, food, lodging, supplies, and a contingency fund in case of vehicle breakdown during their travels. They ask readers to partner with them financially or through prayer for their safety, ministry, and children during the trip.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
