2. Q. When am I ever going to use this?
A. 1) While you're in high school...Almost all of it you'll
see again.
2) After high school/college... Some of it never, ever again.
Other parts, however, (equations, percents, fractions) you
will use in your adult life.
3) But really, you're asking yourself the wrong question.
Algebra is the first of three math classes you need for your
high school diploma. The correct question is...When will I
ever use my diploma? We all know that without it, your
life will be very, very different. ( In a not so good way)

3. Q. What if I'm not very good at math?
A. You're in luck!!
Here's the math you must know to be successful in Algebra:
1. Know your multiplication tables well. (This is not math)
2. Be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and convert
between fractions, decimals, and percents.
Except for the math listed above, Algebra is all about
memorizing the rules, and applying the correct ones to a
given problem.

3. You teach each other, I observe
4. You do on your own

1. I do, you listen, take notes ( vocabulary, formulas, practice
problems), and ask when you have questions.

6. Algebra: What it is and isn’t
Algebra is: A system (set of rules) for solving problems
involving mathematics.
Algebra is not: The only method to solve problems. In fact,
every problem we do this year could be solved without
algebra. It would take a lifetime to do it, though.
Understand this….
There are no Algebra problems. There are problems which can
be solved easier by using Algebra as your solution system.
For example, let’s solve this problem without algebra first:
Two more than the sum of three consecutive numbers is 200.
