North Dallas, TX (Cindi Smith): 2013 was the best revenue year
reported for this store. So far in 2014, they are up $175,000 in
sales compared to this same time last year. It is our
understanding that they have experienced the highest growth
of any store in all of Christian Brothers.
Dallas, TX (Jim Foster): This store recorded an $200,000
increase in their 2013 revenue due to their online marketing
efforts with Osky Blue in 2013.
We are no stranger to working with Franchises and multi-site
systems either. This is a unique beast and it is important that
there is a unified SEO and branding effort across the board.

We do not have any retainer fees for the individual sites or
corporate. Our income comes from individual stores based on
the pricing above. Clients can start and cancel their monthly
recurring service at any time.
Osky Blue bills clients via Credit Card or Electronic Check (ACH)

While a site is moving their local organic search rankings up
we have found that the best way to build business
immediately is to have a good SEM campaign. Long term
clients will also find SEM campaigns effective for them once
they have optimized the campaigns.
Osky Blue offers SEM packages that include the following:

SPECIFIC INFORMATION
1 Osky Blue has around 60 SEO Clients and 30 SEM Clients. As
we mentioned above, we also have quite a few in progress at any
time. With the current clients in the pipeline (getting their
Ultimate Success Kits set up) we will have another 20 in the next
two months.
2 Approximately 20% of Revenues for Osky Blue comes from
SEM services, and about 50% comes from SEO services. The
remaining 30% comes from web services and hosting.
3 Our SEM bidding process is based off first page positioning,
quality score and keyword performance. We would rather the
client have higher bids on keywords that convert higher and
have a higher quality score and a higher position, versus
spreading out their budget over more keywords that may not
perform as well or have as high of conversion rates. We have
found it better to focus on Quality of traffic vs. Quantity of
traffic.
4 How long to wait before changing strategies for SEO and SEM
depends on a few things. In regards to SEO, a big factor is the
geographical location the franchisee is targeting. Specifically,
how large it is and how competitive it is. For example, a city like
Dallas, TX is very competitive and would normally take a 3 to 6
month time frame to start seeing results. For a smaller city, such
as Tyler, Texas, it should take anywhere from 2-4 months to
start seeing SEO results.

In regards to SEM, you will see instant traffic once you start
paying for ads, so we will normally give it a few days to a week
to run and accumulate clicks and data before making any major
adjustments to the account. As we gather data during that initial
period we will tweak and adjust on a daily or weekly basis as
needed. These adjustments include: adding negative keywords,
reviewing ads for quality score, keyword performance, and
changing ads showing on different devices, depending on
which ones are converting the best.
5 What are the Key Performance Indicators for SEO and SEM
that we track and look at? There are dozens of factors that we
look at for both of these each month. The most important ones
are below, but nothing is more important than a real person
getting in there on a regular basis and looking in depth at the
data. This is what our SEO and SEM managers do at least once a
month, and sometimes much more often than that.

6 Local Search has always been one of our favorite areas. It is
one of the best ways to help someone get on the front page of
Google. Because of the way that Google has integrated local
listings well optimized locations can get on the front page well
before SEO results catch up. We outlined this process and what
we do in the Ultimate Online Success kit above in our Google
Local setup.
7 What tools can you provide for SEO and SEM tracking and
reporting?
We use a variety of tools for this for our current clients.
Appendix I has case studies with screenshots of these reports.
Our three biggest KPI’s for this the phone tracking reports,
analytics on keywords, and analytics for organic searches and
visits. We have found if those numbers are going up business is
going up as well.
As we mentioned earlier in this proposal each of these reports
will be available to our clients at any time and we encourage and
train them on how to look at the data so they can be engaged
with their online marketing efforts.

While the work we did was for the Dallas and North Dallas
locations were on their own independent websites, we have no
doubt the same recipe can be applied to the main corporate
sites and we have already started SEO work on the main
corporate network for these locations.

Appendix III a case study for the Drug Alcohol Testing and
Compliance Service (http://datcs.com). We have been working
with them for several years, and they also have several locations
that are targeted on a single site.
9 What recommendations would you make for a new Christian
Brothers Automotive location opening in Knoxville,TN (as the
city’s first location) to get them the fastest results possible to
drive initial customer traffic?
Last year we met a owner of a Cell Phone Repair store in
Lewisville Texas about 2 months before he opened and started
SEO with him immediately to start generating traffic to his site.
We set up his Google Local, a website, and started creating SEO
articles and videos. As a result of these efforts he had 27 calls
before they even opened and when the store opened it recorded
the highest revenue producing first month in Franchise history!
It is now one of the top 10 producing stores out of the 150+
stores nationwide.
We have attached as Appendix IV a case study for this Cell
Phone Repair company that outlines the work we did for him
and shows how this recipe worked for him.
We would recommend that as soon as a new franchise is
announced SEO work is started for them and their online
presence set up.
Then on the day of the Grand opening of the business the
location should start a SEM campaign so they can drive traffic
and track users in the area. As the organic SEO raises this SEM
campaign can be scaled back.

10 Are there situations where SEO or SEM will not work or
cannot improve SERPs position for a local business?
Yes, there are a variety of situations where SEO and SEM will not
work for businesses.
First and foremost it is important that the foundation is set up
well for client location websites. If a website is not optimized
well, if they don’t have easy to find contact forms and a phone
number, if they have not set up their google local, and updated
all their online directory listings then if we do SEO work for
them it is going to take a lot longer to see results and when the
users get there they may never call or fill out forms because they
don’t know how. We have had clients in the past that spend a lot
of money on SEM and it drives visitors to the site, but no one is
calling or converting because the site looks terrible. If a site is
not optimized well so a person can easily see how to make an
appointment, or contact them it does not matter how much
work you do it will never perform well for SEO or SEM.
There are also things that can get a client blacklisted or blackballed.
That means they do not show up on Google at all because they are
using bad SEO practices. The most common problem we have seen
is a client using duplicate content, or even if someone else is taking
the content from a clients site and duplicating it somewhere else.
Template websites do this a lot. Google does not like duplicate
content and will ding a client, or even blackball them if they have
duplicate content. When you are blackballed there is no amount of
SEO work that is going to help till that duplicate content is removed.
Another old school SEO technique that will get you blackballed is
submitting SEO links all over the internet with automated bots.
This is most commonly called Blackhat SEO. It was popular in the
past, but is easily tracked by google now and can get a site
blackballed. If a site on a network like CBA is blackballed it could
affect the other sites on the network as well. This is another
example of where SEO and SEM will not be effective no matter what
work you are doing on your site. This is where a unified website
marketing strategy for the whole company becomes important.

WORDPRESS BASED SEO BLOGS ON THE CBA NETWORK
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
As you mentioned in the RFP, mobile traffic is a significant part
of your traffic. Right now 44% of all traffic to the CBA network is
over a mobile device, but the network is currently not optimized
to give those users a good mobile experience with a responsive
website. Osky Blue can work with CBA to help get their network
theme responsive so that those mobile users have a better
experience. This will have an immediate effect on conversion
data (getting folks to call and fill out contact forms). Responsive
websites are also a factor to help SEO rankings on Google and
other Search Engines.
Wordpress has some great SEO tools, and most of all great
archives that rank well in SEO. As we mentioned above Osky
Blue has a lot of experience with WordPress (in addition to
Drupal) and could help migrate the blog portion of the websites
over to WordPress so CBA could get the benefit of dynamic tag
and category archives (this is what ranks well for a lot of our
clients). The main site could be left intact and sites installed at a
URL like http://www.cbac.com/store/north-dallas-tx/blog.
Google would see it as part of the main site, and even if separate
sites you could still manage them all from a single interface.
