Important information about me
• I struggle with maths and
struggle to carry out
mathematical operations. I
sometimes need time outs to
calm my anxiety.
• I do not like answering
questions in front of the whole
class.
• I can get very shy in social
situations.
Things that I am interested in and people who
are important to me
• I am interested in reading
and always have my head
in a book.
• I like drawing characters
from the books I read in
my sketch book.
• I have 4 siblings and my
parents who are important
to me.
• I am learning to play the
drums and am interested
in films and cinema.
Things I am good at
• I am good at:
• Sketching,
• Playing the drums,
• Making animations
using plasticine
models,
• Reading.
Things I find difficult
• Engaging in certain
lessons.
• Answering questions in
front of the whole class.
• Mathematical concepts.
• Handling my anxiety and
frustration effectively.
How I communicate
• I am a quiet, shy boy so
therefore I am not keen on
verbal communication
especially when I am in front
of the whole class.
• One of the ways which I
communicate is through art.
This could be in the form of
drawing characters from a
book or designing my own.
• I can also communicate
through craft and design
which I enjoys.
How I need you to communicate with me to
help me understand
• When communicating with me
teachers should speak to me
on a one to one level so that I
feels comfortable to respond
to them.
• Furthermore, as I try to avoid
answering questions it may be
better for my teachers to avoid
asking me direct questions
that I may struggle to respond
to.
• Instead teachers could give me
a choice of answers to choose
from.
Things that help me to work well
• Allowing me allotted time
throughout the day to
draw, sketch and read my
book will be an incentive to
work well during lessons as
I enjoy doing these things.
• During math’s, providing
me with a small
whiteboard and pen will
help me to remember
numbers and calculations
as I usually forget them.
Things that make it difficult for me to work
well
• I don’t enjoy everyone
looking at me, particularly
when I’m asked a question in
front of the rest of my class.
Because of this, it makes me
not want to look at the
teacher during the lesson.
• During math’s lessons, I find
it difficult to remember
numbers in my head. Because
I cannot remember the
numbers, this makes me
angry.
When I’m stressed I…
• I feel very overwhelmed and
want to remove myself from
the lesson.
• I'll shut my eyes and shake
my head if you ask me a
question in front of the class,
especially during maths as I
struggle because I can't hold
the numbers in my head.
If I’m stressed it helps if I can…
• If I'm stressed it helps if I
can leave the classroom
for a little while to go and
read a book and calm
down.
• I get very upset during
maths because I don't
understand place value
and because of this I get
frustrated and don't want
to talk to anyone.
How you can help me
• You can help me by talking to
me about the cinema when I
start to get stressed as this
calms me down. I also like to
draw the book characters I'm
reading about so it might
help to keep me calm during
lessons if I can draw while
you're teaching. Also please
don't pick on me for an
answer because I don't like
answering questions in front
of the class.
