Self-healing concrete is a new type of concrete that can repair cracks and damage on its own through a biological process. It contains capsules filled with nutrients and bacteria that are released when the concrete cracks, allowing the bacteria to feed on the nutrients and precipitate calcium carbonate to fill the cracks. This self-healing process allows concrete structures to maintain their integrity and durability over time with reduced needs for repair and maintenance.
