1. Chapter 12 Selecting Appropriate
Instructional Materials for Araling
Panlipunan
Prepare by: Michael V. Villarubia
2. Introduction:
• As we all know, the success of any learning
process depends largely on the Instructional
procedure that is properly implemented
through adequate and effective use of
instructional materials.
3. Intended Learning Outcome (ILO)
At the end of the chapter, learners are expected
to:
• Identify Instructional Materials Appropriate
for a given objective in Araling Panlipunan.
4. ENGAGE
• There are many instructional materials that
can be used to enhance learning in Araling
Panlipunan; however; there are times when
materials are not available. To solve the
problem, the teacher should know how to
prepare authentic materials appropriate to a
given objective. The following criteria can
serve as a guide for the selection and
preparation of instructional materials.
5. Preparation of Instructional Materials
1.Authenticity – Establish genuine information to develop
student’s skill of critical thinking and critical analysis.
2.Appropriate – Represent suitable or proper point of views
about the lesson objective.
3.Interest – Able to arouse and sustain learner’s interest.
4.Cost – Less expense of money, time, and effort.
6. • Araling Panlipunan teachers are encouraged to
use audio- visual and computer based
instructional materials in presenting lessons.
These materials make learners more curious
and explorative which enhance their active
participation. Apart from the teacher, they can
readily present accurate current local and
global events and issues related to the lesson.
7. • On the other hand, book, journals, periodicals,
and other print materials serve as references
and reinforcement of the lesson. Aside from
these, the teacher should utilize varied
instructional materials to give learners
opportunity to broadcast their acquired
knowledge from textbooks.
8. • As such, the following
instructional aides can be used as
auxillary tools in text, visual or
audio media both in print and
digital format.
