3. 01 Urban Makeover| Tallahassee, FL
Known as one of the most beautiful cities in
the South, historic Tallahassee is the state
capital of Florida. Noted for its rolling
hills, beautiful old structures and scenic
tree-lined streets, the city also holds a
unique Civil War distinction. Magnolia
Drive is a very popular street in Tallahas-
see and plays a major role in vehicular
circulation. On this street resides a
neglected courtyard plaza nicknamed
“little Italy”. My challenge was to rede-
sign the interior of this courtyard to while
maintaining integrity of the existing fabric.
After analyzing the site, I noticed that
there was a vast amount of sunlight heating
the space and making it unbearable during
hot summer days. In response, a water
feature was implemented in the design as a
means to cool the area for much comfort to
future inhabitants.

The challenge of this exercise was to
design a repertory theater to display alter-
native film shows, independent and
foreign films, and revived classics in the
heart of Miami. My objective was to pro-
duce a comprehensive architectural proj-
ect that demonstrates my capacity to make
design decisions across scales of profes-
sional criteria. By using my knowledge of
planning and research I was able to design
a project that is aesthetically pleasing as
well as functional.

11. 03 Startup Incubator| San Francisco, CA
For entrepreneurs, there really is no place
like Silicon Valley. More and more
start-ups are choosing to set up headquar-
ters in San Francisco city. The city area
itself is quite small. They call it ‘7×7’
because it represents a grid area of 7 miles
by 7 miles. For this reason, so many tech
companies are concentrated in the same
area, street and even building. Twitter sits
next to Square and Uber in the same build-
ing on Market Street. Airbnb, Zynga, Pin-
terest, Dropbox and Yelp are all based in
SOMA or South of Market Street.
My challenge was to design the container for a
unique type of community of people improving
the world. My focus was to create a space for
individuals in their early stages of entrepenu-
ership that need help to succeed. Specifically
a community of builders, bootstrappers &
disrupters from all over the world. This design
offers a shared & dedicated desk workspace
for entrepreneurs and their teams. Located at
1001 Harrison St, San Francisco, this space
has been revitalized from an old car wash and
has much more potential to exapnd.

14. With 2,500 Sf of designated working space,
this facility is perfect for anyone needing
a kickstart into their profession. A shared
meeting space is incorporated in this
design to be accessbile to all of the build-
ings inhabitants. Thr ground floor was also
designed to atttract pedestrians into the
Coselling space by the use of a cafe and an
open floor plan. This incubator, will
become a pillar for community activities
and technological advances through well
executed design.
15. The Knob Koozie is an aesthetically pleas-
ing accessory for all standard size door-
knobs. The ergonomic design of this flexi-
ble shell wraps around the entire knob
providing tamper resistance for small chil-
dren while complementing one’s personal
style at home. This sculpted device is easy
for adults to grip, squeeze and turn; making
it very accessible. It is made of a flexible
thermoplastic, which creates a softer exte-
rior in the event of impact in the dark. In
case of lockouts, an opening implemented
for accessibility to the key hole was
designed. While focused on safety and
accessibility, the Knob Cozy is also a styl-
ish and simple design that can add style to
any interior space.

Located on a beautiful hillside which
enjoys panoramic views of the ocean and
city, Guantanamo Bay Observatory was
designed to become the backbone for atmo-
spheric research in this region. The site,
Crane Hill, was strategically selected for
its remoteness and offers the best solution
for observing terrestrial and celestial
events. With potential to become a multi-
disciplinary facility, this design offers a
main structure that houses a 24 inch carbon
truss telescope, two exhibition spaces,
classrooms, and an observation deck.
