Achievement in the English Language is driven by:

 “Rise with English” morning programmes on 3 mornings a
   week (detailed information is given in the handout)

   facilitate collaborative learning
Appreciation of Literature in English is achieved by:
 Introduction of literary devices such as similes & metaphors
 Text analysis of an Asian text “Sing to the Dawn”

Higher MT
   Admission test will be conducted in week 1(CL)

   Use of higher level mother tongue materials to further enhance
    their capabilities for ML & TL Express and Normal Academic
    Students. However, no change to examination format, students
    will be assessed based on Express or NA stream format.

MT ‘B’
   An avenue for students facing exceptional difficulties in MT

   Cannot be used in aggregate computation for poly/JC

Application: via respective MT teachers.

Home Economics – Textbook is used for 2 years

D&T and Art - Text book is not required. Appropriate lesson materials will
be provided.

   Every student will have to do 6 hrs of
    community service per year
   Involves helping charitable organisations in
    their Flag Day, visitation of old folks homes,
    collection of old newspapers, cleaning
    parks, etc.

   For students who are overweight,
    underweight and those who are
    not fit
   Conducted within PE lessons
   Extra remedial sessions may be
    conducted based on the needs of
    the students.

  1. Rationale• To allow for gradual transition to Secondary 1 Science as there are more biology topics taught in the primary school.• To allow for gradual transition from Lower Secondary Science to Upper Secondary Science as most students offer Physics and Chemistry in upper secondary.
  2. Food Science Module in Semester 1, an integrated approach (Science and F&amp;N subjects) to the understanding of topics such as digestion, blood circulation, balanced diets, cooking and nutritional requirements. Students learn to conduct food test and carry out research, evaluation and decision making.Environment Module in Semester 2. Process Skills of Science will be taught in the context of the environment in particular on water and land. Students learn how to make observations, process and analyse data, and plan scientific investigations.
  3. Humanities Subject such as Geography and History are often seen as subjects that only requires regurgitation of facts. (memory work) The focus has changed for these subjects and assessment skills involves thinking skills. For example, the assessment for History involves Source-based Questions.
