1. INT. KITCHEN. DAY
ALEX is seen sat alone at his kitchen table, wearing all black.
He has a bowl of cereal in front of him that his is moving
around, but he is not eating anything. His DAD walks into frame,
with his head out of the shot, and puts his hand on his
shoulder.
ALEX’S DAD
Just to remind you we’ve got to leave at 11, how
You feeling about it?
ALEX
I’m fine, I’m just gonna go out in a
Little bit and meet DAN before we go
ALEX’S DAD pats his shoulder, before leaving the frame. ALEX
puts his head in his hands, before sighing and leaving the room.
EXT. GRASS. DAY
ALEX is seen in the distance setting up two chairs, and putting
drinks in each of the cup holders, he sits down in one of the
chairs, and opens both drinks. A few moments pass before someone
sits down in the chair next to him.
DAN
How’s it going man, haven’t seen
You in a while.
ALEX
Yeah it’s not been too bad
Been a bit boring since you left
Though, everyone took a while to adjust
2. DAN
I’m not surprised I was always
The life of the party wasn’t I
ALEX
Yeah that must’ve been why
ALEX seems joking, but there seems to be remorse in his voice,
he takes a sip of his drink. DAN hands ALEX a piece of paper,
but it’s contents are obscured.
DAN
Here, you’ll need this for later.
ALEX
Thanks, I’ll be back in a couple of hours
If you’re gonna be here.
DAN nods and Alex gets up and leaves the frame, leaving his
drink behind.
EXT. OUTSIDE A BUILDING. DAY
ALEX is seen leaving a building, he has the same piece of paper
DAN gave him in his hand. He looks up and sighs, before putting
his head in his hands. DAN walks into frame and taps him on the
shoulder with his drink.
DAN
Here, have this I didn’t want mine.
ALEX
Thanks.
ALEX sounds strained in his reply. DAN sits down and ALEX
follows suit a few seconds later.
DAN
3. How was it in there?
ALEX
Not easy. Took all of my effort
To speak and not just leave.
ALEX takes sips of his drink between talking.
DAN
Hopefully you won’t have to do it
Again anytime soon, sorry about that.
ALEX
Wasn’t really your fault was it, not
Anything you can control.
DAN nods, and the two sit in silence for a moment, before ALEX
leans forward, and pours his drink on the floor.
DAN
What are you doing?
ALEX
I don’t want all of it, I’ve gotta leave
Some for you.
DAN
Thanks man, I’ll see you around sometime soon
ALEX sets the drink down on the floor, when the shot cuts back
to the two, DAN is gone. ALEX places the paper on the bench, and
gets up, he sighs and leaves. The camera pans around to show
4. that the piece of paper is an order of service, with the picture
on the front being Dan’s face, with his name at the bottom.
