The Scottish flag has been the same since the 9th century.
According to legend, St. Andrew, patron saint of Scotland, was crucified on an
x shaped cross at Patras. That is where the x comes from on the flag.

 Sport has a major role in Scotland.
 Without sport, what would they do?
 In Scotland, people like to play sport such as rugby and
soccer.
 Golf and tennis are also played in Scotland.
 Scotland also has it’s own ‘tournament’ called the
Highland Games.
 In the Highland Games they play sports such as Tug of
War and Caber Tossing.

 Scotland has not changed greatly over the last 100
years.
 It still has it’s magnificent views and the people in
Scotland are still very polite.
 I think it would be a lovely place to visit and I hope to
do so sometime in the future.

 The Loch Ness Monster is
believed to be a myth and is
said to have been seen in
Loch Ness since the early
700’s.
 The Loch Ness monster is one
of the most famous ‘mythical’
creatures.
 I believe in the Loch Ness
Monster because it could have
been a dinosaur that didn’t
become extinct, because it
lived in water and not on land.
Crocodiles lived at the same
time as dinosaurs and still
exist - therefore the Loch
Ness Monster may still exist.

 Scotland is famous for it’s beautiful wildlife.
 Here are a few examples of the wildlife in Scotland:
There are deer, hawks, wild boar, hedgehogs, seals and
grass snakes.
 There are also lots of fish in Scotland!

There are more than 700 islands around
Scotland.
99 of these islands are inhabited.
The largest island is the Lewis and Harris.
Scotland’s islands include 13 mountains
with a height of over 3,ooo feet.
