Sciatica is a condition where the sciatic nerve running from the hips to the feet becomes irritated, causing pain, tingling, or numbness in the lower back, legs, and feet. Symptoms usually improve within 4 to 6 weeks but can sometimes last longer. The sciatic nerve irritation results in painful, tingling, numb or weak feelings in the bottom, backs of the legs, feet and toes.
