This study examined the validity of the InBody 720 bioimpedance analyzer for estimating percent fat mass in pregnant women. The study included 11 Caucasian, 3 African American, and 2 Hispanic American pregnant women with a mean age of 27.8 years, gestational age of 19.1 weeks, pre-pregnancy BMI of 29.6, and weight gain of 8.8 pounds. The InBody 720 estimated a mean percent fat of 39.4% while the 4C model estimated 40.5%. The study aimed to validate the InBody 720 for use in pregnant populations by comparing its estimates to the 4C model, which serves as the gold standard.
