But thanks to this scholarship, it was actually more affordable for me to attend this university than my state school. I am constantly grateful not only to be the first in my family to go to college, but also to receive a world-class education without having a financial burden on my shoulders. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Thank you so much for making my education possible! WHY DID YOU CHOOSE NYU STEINHARDT FOR YOUR EDUCATION? I chose NYU Steinhardt because of the opportunities with which it could provide me not only in the cultural hub of NYC, but also at one of its many global study away sites. Unlike other schools that told me I wouldn't be able to go abroad because of my program of study, NYU actually encouraged it and made it incredibly easy. My semester away at NYU Prague was a life-changing experience that pushed me way out of my comfort zone and gave me so much more than just photos. I already want to go back! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT ABOUT BEING A MEMBER OF THE NYU COMMUNITY? Getting to interact and learn from so many unique and talented individuals is the most rewarding part of going to NYU. Coming from a very homogeneous area, I love that I have the chance to meet professors and students from all different backgrounds who are all intensely passionate about different things. The people of the NYU community inspire me to work harder and be my best self on a daily basis. WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT? Being selected to become a Resident Assistant here at NYU has been my proudest accomplishment. My role as an RA has allowed me to grow so much as a student leader, and it fulfills me every day to get to know my residents and help them feel safe and welcome in their living community. WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO DO AFTER GRADUATION? I hope to become a full-time middle or high school band teacher at a school in the city before pursuing a master's degree in child development or education policy. In the meantime, I would also love to perform clarinet on a semi-professional level to stay engaged with the music I love so much.
