The Platform Revolution: How Networked Markets Are Transforming the Economy -...MuleSoft
Facebook, PayPal, Alibaba, Uber—these seemingly disparate companies have upended entire industries by harnessing a single phenomenon: the platform business model. In this session, professor and author Marshall Van Alstyne will explore the what, how, and why of this revolution and provide an “owner’s manual” for creating a platform marketplace. Revealing the strategies behind some of today’s rising platforms, Marshall Van Alstyne will explain how entrepreneurs—and traditional companies—can thrive in this new world.
This document discusses pitch decks and fundraising materials. It explains that venture capitalists will typically spend only 3 minutes and 44 seconds reviewing a pitch deck. Therefore, the deck needs to tell a compelling story to grab their attention. It also provides tips on tailoring different types of decks for different purposes, such as creating a concise 1-2 page teaser, a presentation deck for pitching in-person, and a more detailed read-only or fundraising deck. The document stresses the importance of including key information like the problem, solution, product, traction, market size, plans, team, and ask.

The document discusses strategies for optimizing the total cost of ownership (TCO) of cloud infrastructure on AWS compared to on-premises infrastructure. It notes that on-premises infrastructure is typically underutilized and built to support peak capacity rather than average usage. AWS offers several ways to reduce TCO through pay-as-you-go pricing, reserved instances, spot instances, and economies of scale. The document outlines five pillars of cost optimization on AWS: right-sizing instances, increasing elasticity, monitoring usage, choosing the right pricing model, and matching usage to appropriate storage classes.

With AWS Cloud9 you can write, run, and debug code with just a browser. It includes a code editor, debugger, and terminal. Cloud9 comes pre-packaged with essential tools for popular programming languages including JavaScript, Python, PHP, and more, so you don’t need to install files or configure your development machine to start new projects. With Cloud9, you can quickly share your development environment with your team, allowing you to pair program and track each other’s inputs in real-time.
David Lurie presents on cloud economics and the financial case for cloud migration. He discusses how AWS addresses total cost of ownership (TCO) through services that allow customers to optimize costs, such as paying for what they use without overprovisioning, reserving instances long-term for discounts, and using spot instances for reduced costs. AWS aims to continually lower prices through economies of scale and passing savings to customers. Customers can optimize costs through right-sizing instances, increasing elasticity, using the appropriate pricing models, optimizing storage, and serverless architectures.

Hybrid integration reference architectureKim Clark
The ownership boundary of the typical enterprise now encompasses a much broader IT landscape. It is common to see that landscape stretch out to cloud native development platforms, software as a service, dependencies on external APIs from business partners, a mobile workforce and an ever growing range of digital channels. The integration surface area is dramatically increased and the integration patterns to support it are evolving just as quickly. These are the challenges we recognise as "hybrid integration". We will explore what a reference architecture for hybrid integration might look like, and how IBM's integration portfolio is growing and changing to meet the needs of digital transformation. This deck comes from the following article http://ibm.biz/HybridIntRefArch and is also described in this video http://ibm.biz/HybridIntRefArchYouTube

On hybrid platform (cloud and on premise), Renault and D2SI worked on a simple and secure solution to implement a centralized secret management using Vault.
In this talk, Julien will explain how in close collaboration with Mehdi and the team at D2SI have implemented a way to consume secrets in the CI / CD chain with different mechanisms to provide and share secrets in containers and pipelines.

This document discusses using Beaker to enable continuous integration testing of Puppet code. Beaker allows testing entire systems by provisioning virtual machines, configuring them using Puppet, deploying applications, running tests, and reporting/destroying machines. It provides examples of using Beaker to create VMs on AWS, configure them with roles, deploy applications, run integration tests on the roles, and report/destroy machines. Beaker helps ensure Puppet code works as expected by fully simulating a Puppet deployment.
