We are all familiar with these web technologies: Angular, NodeJS, Grunt, Karma, ... However, how to put them together to make a seamless, high productivity workflow for building prototypes quickly and delivering products frequently?
The shift to the edge
The way we build web applications evolved over the decades - from on-prem servers named after your favourite Star Wars characters to autoscaling cloud clusters and serverless functions. Throughout this journey the architecture paradigm shifted towards more distributed model. Whether that’s your CMS, monitoring system or authorisation layer - it’s most likely just an endpoint you exchange data with. At the end of the day, every HTTP request goes through various middleware layers and requires both server- (SSR) and client-side rendering (CSR).
Recently, a new piece of tech appeared on the landscape - WebAssembly. It became 4th official language on the Web (following HTML, CSS and JavaScript) and was initially meant to run in the browser and improve CSR. It quickly turned out that WebAssembly on the server is also a thing and can revolutionise the way we think of web apps.
Some providers like Fastly and Cloudflare adopted WebAssembly and allow you to run custom code at the edge. That opens up completely new possibilities - authentication, personalised content rendering, A/B testing - you name it. Everything as close to end users as possible.
During my talk I’d like to show you what edge computing offers at this stage and how it can be integrated with AEM as a Cloud Service.

Javascript - Today's trending script
JavaScript is a scripting language that makes web pages interactive by dynamically updating and animating content in the browser. It was created by Brendan Eich at Netscape and allows developers to create rich, user-friendly experiences on the web. JavaScript differs from Java in that it runs in browsers rather than virtual machines and only creates applications, not full programs. NodeJS provides a runtime for JavaScript projects and uses npm to manage packages. ReactJS is a library that makes it easy to build interactive web pages, relying on NodeJS to execute code and requiring packages installed through npm.
Sculpin
Sculpin is a static site generator written in PHP. It converts files like Markdown, Twig templates, and HTML into static HTML sites that can be easily deployed. Sculpin turns a collection of static files into a dynamically generated site using tools like Symfony, Composer, React, and Twig. The generator allows content to be added as Markdown or HTML files along with Twig templates to define the site structure and generate the static output.

The DocdokuPLM is an open-source platform allowing its users to manage their product's lifecycle, from design to maintenance. The main application is built upon RequireJS and BackboneJS librairies for the front-end, and JEE for back-end. The GUI is quite complete, and may won't fit for all users involved in the process. This is especially the case for CAD designers who just need to commit their changes without having such a rich graphic interface. To answer this need, we developped a desktop application, interfacing our server with the CAD designer's file system : the DPLM.
First, we developped a command line interface, which is very lightweight and really great for advanced users. However providing a GUI which could interface with the CLI and allow the user to manage multiple files upload at once was more than needed.
Providing a consistent user experience across different platforms has been one of our challenges in the context of our application. The choice of a web framework was then a natural choice. But how could we get it run within a desktop application ? Node-Webkit brought us the ability to interact directly with the user's file system and embed the app in a webview, letting us the choice to use any web framework we wanted to use.

To answer this need, we developped a desktop application, interfacing our server with the CAD designer's file system : the DPLM.
First, we developped a command line interface, which is very lightweight and really great for advanced users. However providing a GUI which could interface with the CLI and allow the user to manage multiple files upload at once was more than needed.
Providing a consistent user experience across different platforms has been one of our challenges in the context of our application. The choice of a web framework was then a natural choice. But how could we get it run within a desktop application ? Node-Webkit brought us the ability to interact directly with the user's file system and embed the app in a webview, letting us the choice to use any web framework we wanted to use.

Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).

Psychological safety in teams is important; team members must feel safe and able to communicate and collaborate effectively to deliver value. It’s also necessary to build long-lasting teams since things will happen and relationships will be strained.
But, how safe is a team? How can we determine if there are any factors that make the team unsafe or have an impact on the team’s culture?
In this mini-workshop, we’ll play games for psychological safety and team culture utilizing a deck of coaching cards, The Psychological Safety Cards. We will learn how to use gamification to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in teams. Individuals share what they have learned from working in teams, what has impacted the team’s safety and culture, and what has led to positive change.
Different game formats will be played in groups in parallel. Examples are an ice-breaker to get people talking about psychological safety, a constellation where people take positions about aspects of psychological safety in their team or organization, and collaborative card games where people work together to create an environment that fosters psychological safety.
