INTRODUCTION  Bharti Foundation Philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies. Set up to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential. Satya Bharti School Program Flagship program of Bharti Foundation. It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with  special focus on the girl child across rural India. Goal to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000 students Present Operational Status Number of Schools Operational:250 States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu & West Bengal  Number of Students Enrolled: Over 36,000
About the Community  Geographical Location: Bachini village is situated 12 K.M. in West from district Mohindergarh. Sandy soil Underground water level- 415 ft. Socio- Economic Background: Major casts are : Ahir, Chamar, Dhanak, Valmiki,, etc. Dominating castes : Ahir Main source of earning is agriculture, animal husbandry, labor, etc. Population : 1438, Literacy Rate: 36%
We ‘Feel’: The evil of drinking is most harmful for individual and society.In a survey ,we found that near about 268 people are involved in this evil. There is a wine shop near our school which creates very bad environment for students .People abuse to each other all the time. So many time there was seen fighting between drunkard. One person spends 60/- per day on wine as a result the entire village waste 1,90,000/- yearly. If this money may be spent for the welfare ,it will uplift the living standard of people. But the people are not aware about this.
We ‘Imagined’ We imagine if we aware the community members about this evil and all the harms will be calculated ,there may be change in the life style of people. A healthy environment can be created by removing the wine shop .People will be healthy, wealthy and wise if this evil will be removed completely from society. For all this the mentor teacher planned for the following activities:  Meeting with Panchyat members. Rally Role Play Counseling Door to door visit
We ‘Did’ A rally was organized with the posters showing the harms of drinking.  A short play by students to aware the community about the evil of drinking. Theme of the play was that wine is the basic reason for all such as family disorder, poor health and bad economic condition.
We ‘Did’ Community Meeting to aware the community members. More and more members were included in the meeting. The students requested the members to give up the habit of drinking.
Impact on Community: Community was very impressed to attend the meeting , they praised all the students.15 persons took an oath not to drink in future. The wine shop was closed.
Impact on “Us” Students felt leadership quality . Students start initiating on “awareness of social evil” in the community. Community members praised and gave the gifts to motivate the students. Healthy environment was created by closing the wine shop. Community was impressed to see the efforts of Satya Bharti School’s students.
The Road Ahead…..(in the next 3 months) Regular follow up for the program. Poster displaying at common places of the village. List of the volunteers who will keep watch and will counsel the members who have taken an oath. All the persons who took the oath will be honored on Republic Day Celebration.
