9. CONSTRUCTION OF FRAME
1. Fabricated ultrasonically tested steel construction of frame.
“SANTEC‘ proposed press frame will be rugged & rigid frame is fabricated from prime steel plate of
proper thickness for greater strength & rigidity. The frame is designed on latest software to resist any
deflection & capable enough to withstand the high pressure
11. Hydraulic Drive System
A highly advanced hydraulic system is the driving force of the press offered by SANTEC.
If provides the necessary force to do the required work & also control slide movement &
other auxiliary functions. Extra circuit caters to the filtration & cooling of Hydraulic oil. The
hydraulic system is designed as a compact manifold blocks which require minimum piping &
maintenance is very easy. All valves will be of reputed make with international connection.
Following important parameters will be kept in mind while designing & mfg. of Hydraulic
Power system of the press.
Oil temp. gauge will be provided to maintain the temp. of oil.
Oil pressure gauge at suitable height will be provided.
Oil feed opening shall be proper shape & structure to feed
oil inside the tank.
Return oil will come through an oil filter before the oil tank.
Strainer of the suction filter can be checked & cleaned easily.
Oil level measuring gauge will be fitted inside the tank.

A pressure transducer in conjunction with computer / PLC
Controls is used to continuously monitor / record
hydraulic pressure. Pressure selting options include ramped
pressure control through the PLC display receipt.
Hydraulic design provides rapid advance speed of approx. 150 mm/sec., slowing
pressing approx. 8 to 15 mm/sec. & fast return speed of approx. 150 mm/sec.
The hydraulic power pack unit will be fixed above the crown of the press minimize floor
space.

13. Electricals & Electrical Control Panel
User frindly menu provides access to all set up, monitoring & utility function.
Santec’s touch screen control display provided in the electrical panel of
OMRON make provides finger tip access to a simple menu from which the
operator can configure press parameters, monitor actual press operations &
create, store, recall & set the values of parameters.
The touch screen control provides exceptionally precise control. Ram / slide
positioning is tracked by an absolute zero linear transducer of Zefran (Italy)
make which never needs calibration. Enable actual position accuracies of +-
0.0005 & reversal at +- 2% of specified tonnage.

16. SAFETY ARRANGEMENTS
Safety arrangements are very important in such a big press hence following features will be
provided in the press to avoid any accident:-
2 Nos. pendants will be provided to operate the press. These pandent / stand will have Two –
Hand.
Safety Push Buttons with simultaneous control facility with
emergency push buttons.
Emergency push button at each pillar of the press i.e. 4 nos. in the press.
Overload safety relay.
Pressure relief valve is all Hydraulic cylinders for safety.
Hydraulic locking of the main slide & blank holder at the top dead
centre to ensure safety when working in the tooling area.
Safety relays in the panel for PLC protection.
Hydraulic & Electronic safety interclocks to ensure proper & safe
sequencing of operations, to prevent built – up of working pressure
Beyond operation requirement & ensure operator & tooling safety.
LED’S for each sol. Valve coil will be provided in the panel to check
working of coils during operation.
Indicators & interlocks for system malfunctioning such as filter clogging,
low oil lever, high oil temperature etc. for ease of trouble shooting.
17. IMPORTANT PARAMETERS TO BE KEPT WHILE DESIGNING /
MANUFACTURING OF THE PRESS
1. The structure / frame should be very strong / heavy duty to withstand the full
load during working while keeping 20% safety factor.
2. The deflection on slide / frame should not be more than +- 1mm per meter
under full load.
3. Stress analysis / simulation will be done of each part after final designing for
better result / performance of the press.
4. The slide’s Gib guides contact area should be more for better parallelism
accuracy & perfect alignment resulting in safety of the toolings.
5. Each parts used in the press should be of reputed make & easy availability in
Indian market to reduce inventory cost.
6. Serviceability of all parts used in the press.
7. Aesthetics.
8. Zero chances of accidents by providing various safety arrangements in the
press.
9. No chance of deflection of the slide under full load in case of small tooling
area.
